How do you know if Henna has released

I haven't done this in a while. A side note, the henna is only 33% of the mix.

What is the other 66%? And what do you mean "released"? Do you mean while it's being mixed up in the bowl? Or do you mean how do you know once it's already on your hair that the color is being released?

I used to place a torn piece of paper towel and place on top of the henna. When released you will see it in the paper towel. I don't do it anymore because I usually mix it before work for application at night.

Henna Release

I ususally sit mine overnight, so I know it has released - but red liquid will separate (a little to the top) - thats how I know

Most of the mix is Amla since I'm trying to color my hair black (Amla darkens the hair). A little of Brahmi was in the mix too.

Thanks for the link. The top of my mix was black so I couldn't really tell but I could see little bobbles which I will assume is oxygen. I just applied it and my fingers are brown so I guess it released. I hope I get the result I want.

Indigo is expensive and I already have Amla. The Indian store lady suggested I use Amla instead and in the past when I did it, it worked. See my thread here for pics, http://www.longhaircareforum.com/showthread.php?t=497450. I used more Amla this time so I hope I get even darker result.

^^ Why not use indigo.
