How do you get your hair to be sleek and shiny when making a bun?

Hi I have started wearing my hair back between going to the salon for a blow out, but I always notice the frizzes in the front and in the back. However, when I see other women, even some with not as much hair as me, I notice there hair is very sleek and shiny, I am texlaxed now so I thought it would be easier to pull it back, but actually its the opposite. My hair always looks dull and frazzled. Are there any products you guys recommend?

I use elasta qp glaze and coconut oil when I do my buns. I also keep my scarf on until I get where I'm going - usually my daughter's school or work parking lot.

Mine are sleek and shiny if I do a wet bun and use Rusk Smoother, lacio, and aloe vera gel. And of course the trusty satin scarf.

i use the clear ecostyler gel or aloe vera gel-but the key is tying on a scarf, for me, at least

For taming the frizzies, I agree with the other ladies that tying your hair down with a scarf is the key. For shine I use coconut oil too.

Wow thanks for all the tips. I've been trying to figure this out for years, but never thought to ask. I'll try the scarf thing for a while and see how it works.

I use that too but only if I wet bun my hair.

If my hair is already dry then I apply either unrefined shea butter or Afroveda CocoLatte hair butter, smooth it back with a brush. That usually smooths out my hair for the day.

I think it depends on the product you use and hair type. No matter what I use my hair will not be slicked down and I will always have a little fuzzy halo surrounding my head. Yes, this happens even with a scarf. :lachen:

Same with me! Even if I start out flat my edges will frizz up in a few hours. I didn't have that problem relaxed but now that I'm transitioning I do. I might try some Elasta QP Mango Butter this weekend.
