Whenever I see women with long hair I always wonder how they can manage to just wear it all out as I see a lot of women do. My hair is bsl and I've started to get my hair stuck in car doors, car windows, lean back on it in my seat and move my head a certain way that tugs it, have bf lean on it while laying down and of course if I move my head my hair will get tugged, have people on public tran mistakenly put their hand in my hair while grabbing the back of my seat, hair getting in my eyes and have to rub like crazy if the windows are down and its not pulled back, purse shoulder strap pulling at my hair, and I could go on and on. I actually started experiencing these things at apl but when I see women with wl hair wearing it out I can't help but wonder what they go through.....and how they avoid these things....

I mostly PS, which takes care of a lot of these problems! It's always up in windy situations - I have hair pins in my purse that I can quickly bun with. When I'm wearing it out, I'm aware of it because it's not always out and it's become second nature to move it out of the way for routine activities like putting my purse on my shoulder.

I agree PSing helps. I rarely wear my hair down outside my home. Today it's been an issue. I lean back in my office hair and move my head and I jerk my neck. I moved my hair over the chair and it got tangled in the ball thing you use to adjust the chair. It'll be back in a bun for the rest of the year.

I've been thinking about wearing it up more often to retain length during the winter season so it may not be that much of a problem. I just like wearing it down more than I like wearing it up but it's become too much to worry about.

I Protective style most of the time to avoid these issues....I have a horrible cotton chair at work that has little hairs hanging off of it and i know that chair would do major damage to my hair to avoid going postal i keep it out the way.

When I'm on the train or bus my hair goes up in a ponytail or I grab the hair and put it over one shoulder. In the car, same thing, in a ponytail it goes. If I don't do that I'll end up sitting on my hair LOL

Try carrying ponytail holders and Bobby pins in your purse.

Yeah I figure I'll just have to be prepared which means carrying ponytail holders in my purse and keeping some in my car. Right now I don't put anything in my hair after it's done but I imagine I'll have to start using a moisturizer or something if I start pulling it back all the time.
