how do you balance protein & mositure?

My hair loves protein. So I use a mild protein as my regular conditioner weekly. I deep condition with a moisturizing condish once a month or whenever I need it.

I also use moisturizing leave in with each wash.

Whenever I do a moisturizing condish, I use chi keratin leave in Which is protein spray.

What worked for me was always mixing a reconstructor with a moisturizing DC. Mostly I would mix Aphogee 2 Min Recon with something or ORS Mayo with something. Worked like a charm for me. I DC'd once a week faithfully.

It's also important to pay attention to your hair because last summer I was cowashing like a mad woman with moisture only and I felt my hair become smushy, in these instances, I gave my hair exactly what it needed at the time; straight protein. It's a balancing act, but you work with your hair and you will find what works best for you.

I'm thinking of using Aussie Moist as my cowasher, Mane n tail as my reg condish, HE LTR as a leave in and I'm not sure what as a dc (mild protein maybe)?
I know everyones hair is different but does this sound balanced?

I'm thinking of mixing my Aphogee 2 min with my Silk Elements DC and DCing with heat on dry hair for an hour, then washing. Is that a good idea or would the protein be in my hair for too long? I normally put Aphogee in my hair for 2 minutes without heat.

I will begin co-washing for the summer as well. What I intend to do is cowash with a ceramide laden conditioner, DC with the Joico Reconstructor and use the Joico Reconstructing leave it.

This routine will definitely reduce the likelihood of over moisturization.

I will rotate my cowash condish. I plan on cowashing everyday so moisture one day protein the next. I will dc 2x per week moisture one day and protein the next time.

I co-wash my hair everyday and moisturize it everyday, so everytime I DC [one or twice a week] it's with protein. I also have a few protein leave ins that I use occasionally.

I've overcome my moisture overload finally.... so to keep the balance I plan to use a light protein conditoner weekly..dc weekly (try to with every wash) use infusim every other day..

I think it all depends on everyone individual hair and paying attention to what it needs. mushy= too much moisture.. hard=too much protein. Looks like its time for trial & errror.. :( ----> can i get a texture twin?
