How do you apply your moisturizer?

Whenever applying a moisturizer I've always soaked my hair which leaves it molded together after being tied down and puffy as soon as a comb or brush touched it. I usually don't flat iron my hair because it just puffs up but for some reason yesterday I did. Later that night when I was getting ready for bed it still hadn't puffed up. Not wanting to cause it to puff up I thought I'd only work a little moisturizer through it and see what happened. I then combed it back and put on the wrap thing and rolled the ends. When I took the wrap off I worked a little more moisturizer through put a little Amla on the ends and styled. It was soft and still straight not puffy! This got me to thinking about how do you ladies mositurize your hair. Do you soak it or put enough on to just work it through?

Well, the moisturizers I use are not too wet so it is easy to get my hair moisturized w/o soaking it and losing my straightness. I use Aveda Universal Styling Cream mostly.

If my hair is really dry, I will part sections and apply a little with my fingertips. If it is not that dry and I am just doing it for shine or something, I just work it in with my fingertips w/o parting my hair.

I roll my hair at night and the moisturizer can make those curls turn out too tight. For that I either only moisturixe while/after styling in the morning or about an hour before I roll it at night.

I actually just washed my hair and moisturized :)

I section my hair into about 8 parts and then massage some kind of thick/creamy moisturizer (Cantu Leave In in the big tub) and then comb it through with a wide tooth comb. Then I usually twist the 8 sections and tie it down for overnight. Then I spray a liquid leave in (like Motions) over that before I untwist it, and spray it with some kind of oil.

It comes out really soft and moisturized and with great shine/sheen.

Plus by it being just a tad damp, it's easier to put into a bun - for me, at least.

ETA - I thoroughly cover my hair with moisturizer, but don't soak it.

I'm very heavy handed, and I think I was using too much moisturizer, which was aiding my breakage problem. I used to use a lot so that my hair was damp to the touch. Now I've cut back so that my hair is soft, but not damp.

Thanks Ladies. I don't plan on flat ironing again anytime soon but I'm going to start just working it through unless I'm wearing my hair up. Suerte, I just started using the Cantu Leave-in. I'm loving it right now.

I used to slather it on, but now I put some at the front, put some at the back, put some in the middle section my hair in four and put some through the the four parts.

But only apply a tiny... works well for me

I like to concentrate on my ends first when applying.. then I procede to applying it all over... then I seal with a couple of drops of oils. My moisturizer has water as the first ingredients.
