My mum just braided my hair (with my own hair) and I wanna keep it in for at least 2 or 3 weeks to help with my stretching. I just wanna know how i will be able to wash it coz obviously i wont be able to wash it normally since its in braids. can sum1 help me out with some tips? thanks!

i'm wondering if no one replied because there is a thread already? i dunno but i used the search function and came up w/ nothing SO here is my reply hope it helps.

i have cornrows. i do one of two things. 1. swipe parts a couple of times with a cotton ball dipped in sea breeze or 2. in the shower i squeeze/press diluted poo+water through my braids, rinse, apply diluted conditioner don't rinse, wrap in an old t-shirt until most water is out and then air dry the rest in a scarf.

you can do the same with braids. i also spray a moisturizer on the entire length regularly and oil the scalp and hair.

this may help too: http://www.growafrohairlong.com/shampooingnatural.html

eta: i just noticed that someone did post while i was tying my post LOL i didn't bite off her. guess good minds think alike. lata! :wavey:

with my last set of braids, used to rinse with warm water for a few minutes. then used diluted shampoo and concentrated on gently cleansing my scalp, & letting the run-off cleanse the braids. DC'd with diluted con, under plastic cap for about 45mins and then rinsed ou. did this roughly every 2 wks. HTH.
