My daughter was a little past HL but had to cut off 1.5 to 2" due to bad ends. They are better but her hair is so dry at the end of the day (ends) from playing. What can I do to have more retention and ends that do not tangle and look dry? She is usually in braids, twists, or buns. I M&S daily and she wears a silk cap to bed.

She is 4a and I use shea moisture products.

Beautiful hair! I would seal her ends with a heavy product, like castor oil, after moisturizing.

If Shea Moisture has been working this long, probably not. Sometimes we just need an extra 'oomph'; your daughter's hair is probably drying out easier because of the weather and her activities.

Thank you! Will try castor oil and see if that makes the difference:)

Have her ends always been this dry? Trying a better moosturizer may help or using a heavier oil to seal with. Or you can try to m&s more frequently but idk how practical that is for a little one. Or you can try to incorporate moisturizing deep conditioners with every wash. If she cant sit under heat use a heat cap or just put a plastic cap on and let her play around the house for a while and finish rinsing later on in the day.

Weekly deep conditioning (or with every wash). You need one that's strong enough that it deals w/most of her moisture for the week . The day-to-day moisture should be just maintainence. For that, a water spritz and sealing w/jbco or reg castor oil should be great. You can add your fav conditioner/oils to the spritz. Looks like it may be time to move on from Shea Moisture. If her ends are constantly drying out like this, then Shea Moisture is not doing its job. I didn't like that product either.

Ok, so why am I jelly of the baby gir's hair  so pretty. Yours to mommy :yep: Anywho, maybe at night, when you place her hair in a pony, you moisturize and seal ends. Then baggy with a sandwich bag. The cheap kind without the ziplock. Secure it with a scrunchie.

Love the baggy idea!
