How can i get rid of this flaking?!!!!!!

For the past few weeks i've noticed that whenever i wash or co-wash my hair, i see a lot of dark coloured flakes come out in the water.
My scalp isn't especially itchy or sore or anything, so the first time i saw the flakes in the water i was pretty surprised.

Not quite sure what actually caused this (although it could be down to 2 possibilities).
On my last re-touch (Texlax), i over-processed - so it could be that.
Also, i noticed on one of my phony Pony's the laquer on the two comb attachments started stripping off. So it could be those materials in the lacquer could have irritated my scalp.

Either way, how do i get rid of these unsightly flakes?
Is it just a matter of using a medicated shampoo, keeping the hair meticulously clean or will it just go away by itself in time? :perplexed

Never had this happen before, so any advice will be greatly appreciated.

I'm not sure but like you said it might be the lacquer from the comb attachments. What I would do it wash your hair (If you use shampoo) or get a nice thick creamy conditioner and let it sit in your hair, then use a wide tooth comb (shower comb) then maybe a small tooth comb and try and comb through, very carefully, rinse then see what happens. I hope this helps.

I suggest you inspect your scalp before your next wash to see if the flakes are in fact coming from there. Also what kind of products are you using? When I used to use brown gel I would get those flakes in the shower as well.

Yeah, will do this tonight & see what happens.
Thank you!

Good thinking! I didn't think to actually inspect my scalp. (Duh!)

At first i did think it was "product build-up" but i've been using the same products for ages (see my signature below for the products) & it's never happened before.

But i'll definitely inspect my scalp though.

Thank you!

Do u relax with lye?

Both times that I transitioned or topically this problem, it went away and then I retouched and
BAM
it came back. I have to treat it with Rite Aid Coal Tar Shampoo.

That and Sulfur 8 is all that works. I prefer the poo so that my hair does not weigh down tho.

When's the last time you clarified your hair?

I don't actually clarify my hair. I never have, to be honest.
I've just read that adding Baking soda to my shampoo might help, so i guess i'll try that.
