I've been searching through the threads for an hour trying to find out how I can trim/cut my natural hair to get it all even and shapely. My wash n go's look really weird and lopsided:perplexed I just want to know what kind of cut I can do to get it to look nice, even, and shapely?

You may have to go to a stylist who is good at cutting shape into naturally curly hair. Is your hair even when straightened?

i can only trim and cut my hair when straight. maybe press it out once or twice a yr and go at it girl!

You have to have it cut when pressed straight. They can cut into curls but usually they cut into it to relieve that flying saucer tendency lol. That can look very lopsided when straightened.

Yes my hair is pretty trim as far as split ends and such but, when you look at the big picture my wash n go has this weird shape. The shape that I'm going for is kinda of like the one in your signature. My hair is mostly 4a with 4b around the edges. Right now Im at shoulder lenght stretched. I dont mind straightening my hair in order to get this look, I'm just not sure what kind of cut I have to get for this look?

My hair in my siggy is right after I BC'd.All of my hairs are the same length, and because of that it falls in layers (does that make sense?:perplexed) Maybe you can get subtle layers cut in? The best way to even your hair out yourself would be to straighten it and then trim it either bluntly or in a U-shape.:yep:

I think I'll try the subtle layers you mentioned. For my hair to be blunt...:nono:that would require alot of cutting and I'm gona have to work up the courage for that one:perplexed

Is it that your shrinkage varies throughout your hair?

That maybe it. But I think I pretty much have the average amount shrinkage all around, although the curl pattern does vary in size throughout my hair. But I usually wear my hair stretched in braid/twist outs and it still has that sort of weird shape:perplexed
