I think the size would depend on the manufacturer. Not all pills of a certain vitamin are the same size. You may just have to try to look through the side of the bottle prior to purchasing to get an idea of the size.
I take Puritan's b-5 and it's one of the smaller pills in my case, the biotin is the smallest. In the new Puritan catalogs they now list the size of the pill and Pantothenic Acid(b-5) is listed as T-2 and T-3. A T-1 is the smallest pill size.
Puritan's Pride TR 500mgs Pantothenic Acid are just a little bit bigger than a Centrum vitamin...if you are familiar w/ those. They are coated, so they go down w/o too much trouble for most, I'd think.
I ended up going to the health food store and getting the NOW brand B-5 capsules in 500 mg. They aren't that big so I'm happy!
I think I'm going to start off with one capsule a day for a week and then move up to the 1000 mg recommended on the board. I gotta make sure I don't get any side effects. I gotta get these strands plumped up!!
