"Honestly, Truly"
Hi everyone, i'm going to wash my hair for the first time since having it touched up two weeks ago (i've had chicken pox, in my head too!)

I'm wondering, since this will be my first hot oil experience, should I apply the oil before or after shampooing?

TIA.

xx

I asked this question when I joined, I used to do it afterwards and it left my hair too heavy and tangled!!! I do it before now, either for 5 minutes to a whole day. The benefits are that your hair is really soft and moisturised when you rinse it out and wont be stripped by the shampoo, I would not do it any other way now.

I do it both ways.

1. I normally shampoo/rinse, then apply hot oil treat. then re-wash.

2. Or I may apply it to dry hair before shampoo. It depends on what's more covenient at the time.

i do it after, but thats because i used a hot oil treatment that instructed me to do so! *shrug* my hai rwasnt too heavy frrom it.

I usually do mine before but when I use the NTM Line I do it after shampooing turns out great.

Did you still use conditioner?

I do a hot oil treatment after my first shampoo. Then I shampoo a second time. I just can't get with hot oiling dirty hair.

yes, i do this after conditioning. the oil i use is queen helene jojoba hot oil treatment and its 1st ingredient is water so its not heavy at all. i usually just rinse, and if minimal oil remains, it doesnt bother me b/c i use a little oil in my hair sometimes when i flat iron.

I do mine before. I mix Vatika and Amla oil together, let it soak overnight and then shampoo the next morning.

Thanks. Maybe I'll try it this way too one day.

I usually apply my hot oil treatment before my I conditioner wash. My hair comes out much softer this way.
