I asked this question when I joined, I used to do it afterwards and it left my hair too heavy and tangled!!! I do it before now, either for 5 minutes to a whole day. The benefits are that your hair is really soft and moisturised when you rinse it out and wont be stripped by the shampoo, I would not do it any other way now.

yes, i do this after conditioning. the oil i use is queen helene jojoba hot oil treatment and its 1st ingredient is water so its not heavy at all. i usually just rinse, and if minimal oil remains, it doesnt bother me b/c i use a little oil in my hair sometimes when i flat iron.
