Hot Oil and Braids

Can you do a hot oil treatment while in braids? If so, how? If so, does this effect the removal process? I mean, does the oil build up at all?

I do hot oil treatments and I haven't had any problems with unmanagable buildup *knocking on wood* (I always have a lil). I go in between the parts and put the oil on the new growth. I let it sit a while. A few hours usually. Then I just wash it out w/shampoo.

I've been thinking that I probably should do an ACV rinse after the shampoo.
