I'd suggest a flat iron. Combs leave too much possibility of heat damage...even the ones with temp regulation.

ETA: Ceramic Tools Flat Iron works well. The pic below is what my friends 4b/4c hair looked like when using this flat iron. Click the pic.

i like the andis high heat pressing comb. it has multiple settings and gets my hair bone straight. my hair will NOT straighten with just a flat iron.
 
I tried to press my hair carefully with a hot comb and ended up burning my hair around my hairline. It used to stick straight up because of the breakage but now it has grown back. I use a blow dryer and chi iron if I want my hair straight.
 
I think hot combs are excellent tools when used correctly...however I do not think a relaxed head should use one. That's too much heat for the relaxed area (and you'll inevitably touch it). Better to get a flat iron, and just flat iron the roots to ease the transition. HTH
