Wow, I feel bad for the ladies. The weaves look nice, but they are only covering up the problems.

Off topic: Jaded Faerie you look so pretty in that picture, that dress is fierce girl. Your hair looks beautiful also.

Yikes! Some of those ladies look like they need to take a little stroll down Natural lane. :nono: Stop the chemicals, stop the weaving, just stop.

:lachen: I was SOOOOOO thinking the same thing!!! And the weave-woman (aka-- the pusha  )is gonna keep on throwing that weave into their hair until she's attaching it directly to the scalp with glue. I mean at the rate they're going they'll be strandless soon enough.

well actually no that's not true i go to this particular sytlist because she does not promote glue at all she does net weaves which are braids that are covered by a net and then the hair is sewed on to them putting no stress on your hair or hairline while i was not in any of the before or after pictures i did suffer some damage due to bleach and currently with the help and advice of you ladies along with the net weave a weave yes but still a protective style i am doing a lot better while yes i could have cut all my hair off and started over that is not what i wanted to do at the time i began going to her which was in november and also i am natural but i still wanted certain styles with out any heat applied to my own hair and i knew left out i would perm it color it or just do something that i shouldn't so if you mess up weave hair or make a mistake with it no big deal but to possibly do the same things to your own hair would definitely spell disaster so it is easy to look and laugh but every one has a reason for their choices and she does not even own any glue also she once asked me prior to rebraiding my hair why don't i get twist and i looked at her like girl please braid me up and sew me down:} but anyhoo later i probably will be ready for that but not just yet we all have to get to the hair place we need to be at different times jb

Janisloren, thanks for posting your experiences with that stylist. Who knows what it was that got those ladies' hair into that kind of condition. Whether it be chemicals or medications, I am glad they are doing something. Everyone is so quick to judge. Cutting off all your hair and sporting a TWA is not for everyone.

2 of her techniques sound very interesting:

1. My Own Hand tied Closures : hair is tied 1 - 2 strands at a
time into a breathable material and then it is applied to a NET
SYSTEM. *The finish result is hair that is able to be parted on
either side and hair that is able to blow in the wind and look
as though it is growing from the scalp!

2. "KYMMY's CYNERGY SYSTEM" : this weave is for those
who have little to no hairline

Janisloren if you anything about these please PM me I am curious.

ITA :yep: I was thinking the same thing.

Good posts Janisloren and Carrie!

I looked at those photos and had to do a double take. I can't laugh cause I've caused myself a lot of scalp damage leaving relaxers on too long to get the hair straight, too tight pony tails and braids, etc... I've been blessed to find this board and have gone almost full circle in repairing the damage. I'm at least happy with my hair and it's condition. I'm continuously in a state of learning how to take better care of the hair I've been given charge over. The length will come when it comes.

Those photos should serve as a very clear lesson on what CAN happen if we aren't careful (whether it be from meds, chemicals, styling, etc).

Happy HEALTHY Hair Growing Ladies!!

L.

WOW I saddened by this, I know how they may feel and I know what they go through to get what hair they have left to look good. Wish I could lend them a hand and give advice but I am no professional, however their weaves look fierce especially that curl one in the middle. :)

Excellent posts carrie and janisloren- we all want to assume we know what cause these ladies problems but the truth is that we dont and therefore cant judge them. I like her weave skills but I think she is based in MD from the area code. :(

cutebaja, I emailed her for more info. I am defintely interested in her techniques. My weaves have definitely helped my hair.

Thats messed up. I dont think wearing weaves would help those ladies, it would only worsen their problems.
I depends, if their damage and breakage is caused by their "skills" or lack of maybe wearing a weave and giving the hair a break, would help it to grow back faster. I know that I plan on wearing cornrows for the summer to help give my hair a break.

Maybe it is just me but I think they should cut off all their hair and start all over again.

No it's not just you, ITA w/ you. I don't mess with weaves anymore, no matter what technique is used on my head, I always get matting, like I have too much natural hair for a weave style (I'm transitioning and currently at BSL, VERY thick natural curls and waves) Has anyone else with really thick and considerable length of natural hair had this problem wearing a weave? And before anyone judges, this has happened whether I got my hair done at an upscale salon or from "Keisha from the block"
