Honey: Could this be mold?

It~Can~Grow

As I accidentally knocked the honey off the shelf (too much crapo) I noticed what looked to be a little white speck attached to the inside of the bottle. It's a little smaller than the width of an eraser head, but wondered "could this be mold growing inside?"

It doesn't say on the bottle to keep refrigerated, and assumed since this was my 'hair' honey wasn't going to eat I didn't' need to refrigerate.:ohwell:

Also, I noticed on the bottle that it states "...because it's something something it can turn into sugar. if this happens heat up".

Could this be sugar forming? Oh, I've had the honey since December.

Thanks for your input, Ladies

I know that honey has the longest shelf life of ALL foods. They found edible honey in Egyptian tombs...and isn't honey purposed to repel mold somehow???

Anyway..it should be good...but when in doubt, throw it out.

It's most likely sugar. I kinda like when that happens to my honey (if I'm using it for edible purposes).

Honey doesn't spoil. I think it's the only food that doesn't. It might be crystallizing. Sit the jar in a bowl of warm/hot water and see if that helps.

honey crystalizes. that is probably what you saw. it is just sugar. i would pull it out if you could and touch it. it would be hard if it was just crystalized sugar. in the past my honey always does this after its been open a while.

Shelf life - Girl nothing lasts long enough in my house to worry about shelf life :lachen:

I just wondered - however, I am using it on my hair and not ingesting so it probably doesnt matter.

Humm...well, on second thought - might not want to be puttin mold up on my head either :perplexed

Anyone else have a similiar experience or know if 'mold' could be forming from December to present.:perplexed
