How long are the kink loosening/defrizzing/conditioning effects supposed to last? Can daily conditioner washes reduce the debulking effects of these treatments? Am I washing it out?

My hair was doing fine with one treatment per month. Maybe it's because the weather is warmer and more humid, but the effects only seems to last about two weeks now. A month ago it would lay down all day. Even if I got caught in the rain. Now I have a halo of frizz within 10 hours. (Maybe this is normal--this is my first summer without relaxed hair since the early 1980's.)

Oh yea....I went though that last summer(first summer no relaxer)....I had a frizz problem even with natural curls. I found I need to use a product with more hold...which for me means hard and drier hair(yuk!) I'm hoping Hennalucent will help with the frizz. Otherwise I may be doing the bun thing all summer. I don't know about the Homemade Herbal Tame...

I think we're doing the same thing. Hennalucent or neutral henna mixed with oils and conditioner...

It was working great. It still works, but the effects don't last as long.

I have about two weeks of smooth hair and then my hair starts puffing up by mid day. I thought my daily conditioner washes could be washing the henna out of my hair...

FYI--
Now I just use henna and lemon juice. But when I was making the homemade HT the recipe I finally settled on was:

2 oz of neutral Hennalucent (for relaxed hair) or 2 oz of natural henna (for natural hair—I get mine at fromnaturewithlove.com)
½ cup (4 oz.) of your favorite moisturizing protein conditioner
¼ cup of the oil of your choice (makes rinsing a lot easier)
Optional: Powdered herbs (kelp, sage, aloe vera, nettle, etc.)
Plastic, wooden or glass bowl and spoon (no metal!)
*Approx ½ cup of very hot (not boiling) water.
If you use natural henna, you’ll need to mix it with lemon juice and let it sit in a warm spot overnight to release the red dye.

*The amount of water you add depends on how stiff or how loose you want your mixture. I probably use less than ½ cup. It’s easier for me to apply it when it’s a little stiff.

Cover your hair with a plastic cap for at least 1 hour. Some people leave it on overnight. I usually rinse after 2 or 3 hours.

If you feel the need, you can shampoo with a mild shampoo to get rid of the crud.
