In a few weeks I will be getting a relaxer. I read somewhere on the forum that you should apply relaxers w/ a applicator bottle. Has anyone tried this method? If so could you please give me step-by-step instructions? Thanks!
P.S- what type of bottle should I buy?
I've never heard of the applying relaxer with a applicator bottle, but I have heard that you should use a color brush. I tried it and it was pretty easy.
I bought a bottle with a nozzle type aplicator to do this type of relaxer treatment, but for me the relaxer was to thick to properly squeeze out of the nozzle and I ended up abandoning this method for the color brush method.
Yes God Favor. I do this method. It helps me to precisely put the relaxer 1/4" away from my scalp. This technique is actually taught at certain schools. I cut the applicator tip at a slight angle while also cutting enough off to give me the right flow. I use this method on my sister and mother's hair as well. It really cuts down on the application time as well and it doesn't get so messy. The way it do it is pre-part sections horizontally (so I have like 10 sections parted horizontally on each half of the head) and section them off with a clip. Then section by section I squeeze a couple of lines of relaxer going horizontally with the parts. Then I go back and smooth the relaxer and adding more relaxer where needed. I'm just too clumsy with all other methods that I tried. The key to this too is pre-parting sections. HTH
Wow, I have never heard of either of these methods...The color brush thingie sounds very interesting. I will be relaxing in December possibly January, so I will definitely have time to investigate
I have never heard of using an applicator bottle either. My mother does use a brush to put it on my hair. It is thin and black. The same used to apply color to hair in salons. Sometimes she also just uses her hands.
