I use it when its almost time for a touch up. That mixed with some gel will hold anything in place. Its a heavy product, if that helps you any.

Some of my cousins like this for their nightly "scalp greasin". It's not as greasy as it looks, though. It has mineral oil, but no petrolatum. They sell 1 oz sample size jars for $0.50 at a lot of bss.
