Hi everyone,

So after lurking for months ( actually all of 2), your advice has convinced me that i deserve and can/must grow my hair waist length ( if only as an inspiration to other BW i know).... as a thank you to all of you i decided to join the forum (keep it alive by having actual paying members and all that).
I've been natural for 5 years, brought on by desire to shave my hair off and the fact that it came off with the water (kinda like when you rinse hair removal cream:lachen:) at my last attempt at a relaxer. I like my natural hair and dont plan to change it anytime soon...

Now my question is:
Has anyone noticed a texture change after using a protein treatment?
I used one( Apoghee 2 step) for the 1st time 8 weeks ago and noticed that i had more defined curls and clumps, then i used it again last week and its even more pronounced (i'm a 4 something).

Anyway sorry for the long post, thanks for the past advice i actually used protein and bought a bone comb after reading about it here and i'm glad i did.
Thanks for looking into this post.

Welcome!!

To answer your question, I've noticed a texture change after using the Redken Extreme CAT protein treatment and after using the Aphogee 2 step. Just like you, my curls were more defined and bouncy.

First of all, WELCOME TO THE BOARD!!!

To answer your question, when I first started using protein, (I used Aphogee 2 step first then switched later to Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea) I did notice that my new growth "popped" more. I guess because the strands were stronger the natural curl was able to come through more defined. But I have no idea.

Yes, I don't use protein often, but when I do a treatment my coils are always springier(is that a word).

Good luck with ur hair growth!!

thank you.
was there a particular reason why you changed from the aphogee 2 step to the keratin & grren tea?

I've noticed my hair likes protein. and aphogee 2 step is a hard protein which can't be done very often. And since I've only been doing this whole hair care thing since March, I didn't want to guess at how often my hair could take such a harsh protein treatment and total mess up the protein/moisture balance in my hair. So I decided to go with the lighter protein - Aphogee Keratin & Green Tea. I use that weekly on top of my Deep Condish that way I can use protein often without the horrible side effects of dry, brittle hair.
