Here's what I do:
I pre-poo with conditioner to detangle and pre-condition my hair and braid up my hair in 5 plaits.
I shampoo with sulfate-free poos, and clarify as need needed, with a 1st lather followed by 2nd lather with moisturizing poo.
I take down each braid one at at time and apply instant conditioner and let it sit while showering, then I proceed to comb and detangle under the shower stream.
Lately, I have been good about deep conditioning. After showering I have been towel blotting my hair and then deep conditioning under the hood dryer for 15-20 minutes and then rinsing under a hand held shower head. When I am lazy, I use the pre-poo as my deep conditioning treatment.
I always airdry. Currently I'm experimenting with ponytail rollersetting, I love the smoothness this gives my hair. Sitting under the hood dryer, I have an Ion Hard Bonnet, also seems to close the hair cuticles and make the hair look nice too.
I use protective styles on occaision and low manipulation hair styles braidouts/twistouts. I only comb on wash days too. HTH![]()

MonaLisa said:I so have been doing this, to some extent cause I've been slipping drastically with doing my braids and I need to resume doing so. I know I was doing the right thing after reading this...![]()
I so thank you for giving me that push to try Garnier and Africa's Best Leave In Hair Mayo, I haven't been this fond of new products since I found my beloved WRTC, NTM DDC and Phytorelaxer. *big hair hug*
I'm pretty much going to be rocking braidouts/occasional rollerset for the next few months and I swear on my life...I've been fingering picking up some more scrunchi ouchless flat bands to start doing the ponytail rollersets at home. I tried it three times last year...and it wasn't bad. Even air drying without a hooded dryer, my ends came out smooth on the roller.
Good luck with the ponytail rollersetting and let us know how it goes! We wanna see!!![]()
Quick question: Sulfate free poos - Have you ever thought about trying out shampoo bars? Or is sticking with CON pretty much working for you (I just picked up a bottle last week, I shoulda never strayed)
Priestess said:Isn't it great finally finding products that work? It makes all the world of difference, doesn't it?![]()
My next ponytail rollerset, I'm going to try using my mini-scrunchies by Scunci since they're really gentle on hair...
I've never tried shampoo bars, where do you get yours? That sounds tempting... I love going the sulfate-free route, CON is my favorite, the new Organix line has some nice ones too, I have the Coconut Milk and Vanilla Silk ones.I also have some Dr. Bronners Castille Soap that one of these days I want to use. It has excellent oils like coconut, olive, hemp and jojoba oils. *Sigh* so many products so little time.
