You guys have me salivating...in fact, I was about to buy one off e-bay and it sold before I could complete the paypal info! Anyways, I was wondering a few things
1. did the hair poof back more so than with a flat iron or is it the same?
2. how hot does it get and does it give you that gross burnt hair aroma?
3. if you already have a flat iron, are the results worth the price?

I posted a review of the Maxiglide a little over a week ago.

Anyway, I am someone who hadn't seen her hair straightened in years. I am talking eons here! So I didn't own a flat iron prior to getting the Maxiglide. I was won over by the demonstrations of it, and plus my DH works at the company that sells it, so I got it for $40. I was definitely game.

It straightened my type 4A hair very well. I am texturized and my hair did not poof back out at all. In fact, it was still straight when I went ahead and washed it. I had the heat setting on 5 (goes up to 10) and got a great result. As for the burnt smell, not really, but I could tell from the scent that I had done something thermal to my hair.

Hi!

I bought the Maxiglide almost a month for my daughter who is 4 a/b natural. I was convinced because I saw the results of two daughter's of members here.

I convinced one of my sisters who is natural to buy so that we could all try it out. It worked on her, but her review is to get a hard press first and then she gets great results using the glide to give her press some umph! I used it on my daughter and at first it reverted fast. But after a few applications it press stayed. I think , because her hair isn't used to heat, it just reverted. Meanwhile, it does have that justed pressed burnt smell, too me. I can really smell it. It almost disapointed me. Even using settings 3, 5 or 8.

For me, being relaxed, if gave me a silky, smooth press. Now a lot of this(smell, texture, feel, etc.) can depend on the products you use on the hair and so on. I didn't buy his products. Once I use just some EVOO and then some pressing oil. My sister used coconut oil on her natrual hair and it was like she had a fresh relaxer!!

I am completely sold on the Maxi! It is quick, easy and I really like the steam. It helps with the tangles. It would be really cool if he created a smaller version, like a 1".
