Henna\'d my hair this weekend...
First I had to go to the groccery store to get some lemon juice and distilled water to mix with my henna. *I got black henna from http://www.everydayhenna.com I did a 50/50 water to lemon mix, about 1/2 cup of each. I am impatient, so I did not let my dye sit for 8 hours, but for 6.
I left it in a plastic ziplock bowl on top of my stove (i figured since i have a gas stove the heat from that would keep it warm like it's supposed to). What was funny was that when I checked on it, it had risen kind of like a cake, but when I mixed it, it turned back into a brownie mix like emulsion.
I condition washed my hair earlier in the day before I applied the black henna. I then applied it starting with the back and working my way forward *with gloved hands*. I left the henna on for 4 hours and then rinsed it out. I then condition my hair for 20 minutes under the dryer with Keracare Humecto. My hair felt a little harder after this so I then con-washed my hair with both V05 Pina Colada & Strawberries and Cream. I then added Hummectress to my hair and let airdry.
The next day I con-washed again, with the V05 and then I twisted my hair with aloe vera gel.
My Results:
[*]Darker hair, not totally black. The part of my hair that I had dyed w/ the T&T Bronze is a very dark brown right now. I don't know if that's because it was dyed lighter before, or because I didn't leave the henna to sit for 8 hours, or because I didn't leave the henna on longer. Either way, I'm not really mad about that, I like the color, I still have a two-toned look, which is cute and I can henna again for a darker color in a month or so. Which is really great because I wanted the black-black color more for fall, as I'd said before.
[*]Less frizz!
Yes, the rumours are true I have less frizz! And I was having major frizzies on the ends where I had dyed my hair with the T&T Bronze. So, my twists look better than ever.
[*]Strong, but slightly harder hair. Yes, but don't worry this is my reaction to any protein-esque treatment. It's not aphogee hard hair, just really "strong" IMO. I figure this will go away after a few more condition washes, also I heard that henna-ing the 2nd time is the BEST!
There are my results!
