Henna Over BKT

I have no idea, but why would you want to do that? For the color only? It seems like it would be really damaging as both are already hardcore treatments.

That’s true...I want to focus on thicken my hair more and lots of people have success with henna

I don't think Henna is a hardcore treatment at all. It just coats the shaft of the hair and strengthens the kertain protein structure your hair is made of. With all that heat from the BKT I would think Henna might help lol.

I did henna the day before bkt if I'm not mistaken last year. I had read that a color process could rough your cuticles up so that the bkt would take better. Didn't work in my case. I am now of the belief that if your hair was resistant to relaxers, it will be resistant to bkt as well---at least that seemed to be my case...

No problems. Make sure you seal the henna with the bkt. You can color you hair with bkt in it and they will do it first t so the color doesn't lift the keratin. BKT is not harsh to the hair.

Yep, I've hennaed over BKT. It took beautifully...my color is rich and shiny.

The very first time I BKT'd, I hennaed a week before. In the intervening week, I did 3 deep conditioning treatments with steam and caramel to get my moisture/protein balance back on track (since henna can act like a hard protein on the hair). By the time I got the BKT a week later, my hair was in awesome condition, and the keratin treatment sealed in the henna.

When I henna on top of a BKT, I use a sulfate poo and add salt to my DC a couple times, to lightly strip some of the BKT (this does not completely remove the keratin, it just loosens it a little). Then I henna, follow the same conditioning regimen as above, and BKT 7-10 days later. I get great results each time.

Henna is not a traditional dye/color process, so it doesn't roughen the cuticle. In fact, henna acts as a coating that seals the cuticles, so doing the BKT one day later was not a good idea. If you wait 7-10 days, you'll see much better results. :yep:
