For those of you who let it sit, do you mix in the yogurt at first or do you wait until you are ready to apply it to the hair? How about oil/conditioner? Thanks!

Kamilah, I keep my mix very simple. I do not use yogurt or lemon juice or ACV. I get BAQ, one ingredient henna from the Indian grocery for $1.49 and use it as follows:

Divide the 100 gm packet in half.
Place approximately 50 gms in ceramic container
Mix with enough water to make a paste. I use an electric mixer.
Let paste sit on top of the refrigerator 12 - 24 hours
Use electric mixer to add EVOO or amla oil or whatever oil I want
Add pectin - thickening agent
Immediately put on hair, I don't even use plastic gloves because it makes me clumsier. The dye on my hands washes right off. This is just me, though.
I leave it on for 2 - 8 hours.
Rinse and shampoo with Creme of Nature Ultra Moisturising
DC with a dominican conditioner
Rinse hair is wonderful IMO

It's best to wait until after the henna dye-releases before adding extra to it.

The first time, I didn't use yogurt (no ACV or lemon juice either) but I waited for the release to add the amla and indigo (after mixing the indigo separately).

The second time, after the henna released, I added the amla, indigo and honey which stretched it and added moisture. It became kind of a gloss.
