Henna & coffee

My friend just asked me about a henna & coffee mixture, has anyone ever heard of this and if so, what does it do?

Yes, I've heard of it. The coffee is used instead of plain water, and it is supposed to tone down the bright red color of the henna.

I used to put coffee in my mixes. It's acidic so it helps the dye release in addition to warming up the color.

I used to used espresso in my henna mixes too. Lately I've been using black tea instead.

Black walnut powder will brown up the red as well. Make it dark brown. bonjour
