I just used water soluble tea tree oil with lavendar together and put on my scalp to try to help with itches. I did not dillute it with a carrier oil should I be scared?? Should I have dilluted it?

Yes, I say you should have diluted it. With every EO I've had, it says to dilute it with a carrier oil such as jojoba, sweet almond or avacado oil. The reason behind this is because the concentration of the EO is very strong and if applied directly to the skin/scalp without some type of carrier oil or base, it could be very damaging and irriating to the skin, such as causing minor burns.

How much did you use, and are you feeling any burning?

What do you mean water soluble? What else was added to the product for it to become water soluble. You should have purchased pure tea tree oil and lavender. Yes you should have added it to a carrier oil. You can do more harm than good using it straight.

I used three 1/2 droppers to one 1/2 dropper of lavendar oil. I was so scared I just went up stairs and clarified and used aveda shampuree shampoo.
When I applied it I did not feel any burning, it stayed on my scalp about 20 minutes before I washed it. :wallbash: oh no I hope I don't wake up with scalp burn and a messed up head i was doing so good :wallbash:

the product that i purchased fromnaturewithlove was called water soluble tea tree oil I being dumb assumed that it was already dillute so i could use it directly:wallbash: I just knew that the smell was very over powering and I was like WOW this is rough I just hope i did not damage my scalp i applied it directly to the scalp because the smell was so overpowering I did an internet search and I got some crazy sites that said it could go in your bloodstream cause your blood pressure to raise and that when tested on cats it was fatal. I was freaking out like WOW!!! :wallbash: I tried called fromnaturewithlove but they were out of the office so I am not sure if I am just overreacting or what but............ I was scared.

BTW: Tea tree oil and Lavendar oil 4 sale :ohwell:

You washed it out already, so you did good by doing that. No, definitely dilute any EOs with carrier oils before applying them to scalp or skin. Using them in pure form can cause burns to the scalp or skin, some burns even resulting in permanent scarring/damage. Now, what I would do is go and massage my scalp with some coconut milk and some jojoba oil if you have any on hand. If not, mix your favorite oil with some glycerin or castor oil and give your scalp a good massage. HTH.

Edited to add: Water soluble means that it's easier to break down in water as opposed to an EO that's made to break down mainly in oils. Even in water soluble EOs, you should still use a carrier oil. Even if it's just plain old castor oil or glycerin.

This is one of the articles that I found

Occasionally, people may have allergic reactions to tea tree oil, ranging from mild contact dermatitis to severe blisters and rashes.

Undiluted tea tree oil may cause skin irritation, redness, blistering, and itching.

Tea tree oil should not be taken internally, even in small quantities. It can cause impaired immune function, diarrhea, and potentially fatal central nervous system depression (excessive drowsiness, sleepiness, confusion, coma).

The tea tree oil in commercial toothpastes and mouthwashes is generally considered to be acceptable because it is not swallowed. Avoid homemade tea tree oil mouthwashes.

Seek medical attention if you experience symptoms of overdose: excessive drowsiness, sleepiness, poor coordination, diarrhea, vomiting.

Don't use tea tree oil if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.

Keep tea tree oil out of the reach of children and pets.

thanks 4 your help I only have EVOO so i am just going to have to use that for now :wallbash:

You're welcome. EOs are wonderful little things if you use them correctly. I wouldn't get discouraged from using them because of this one incident. Get you some good jojoba or EVOO and use it to dilute your EOs. They make for wonderful scalp massages. Lavender and Sweet Almond Oil makes for a good body massage to, not to mention that if you dilute it enough, it's relaxing, as the Lavender is not so powerful in regards to the smell.
