I am gonna start taking out my kinky twists that I have had in since the end of July. I took out a couple and I noticed that I have build up and I don't wanna rip my hair out. So whats the safest precaution to take when combing the buildup out? or what is your method? Do I need to comb it out while damp or dry? As you can see I am about to have a nervous reck.

Thanks, Ciara

There is a product out that helps with removing braids called Better Braids Un-Braids.

I have never used it. I mix conditioner with water and a little oil and put it in a spray botttle. I spray this on the braids and unbraid. This gives me a lot of slip. I also fully saturate the clumpy white buildup so that it will untangle easily.

Also be sure to detangle fully and keep spraying the unbraided hair. Once you have a good sized section rebraid the hair so you won't have a matted mess by the end of the braid removal session.

I hope this helps :)

:look: I'm gonan take a stab at thiss... shapoo your hair really w ell (i have braids) some doing but also try a clafiying shapoo you dont want to ripp the hair you grew out its gonna be time comsuing but worth it

Check out the website www.growafrohairlong.com and check out the video about "removing braids with excessive buildup" this should really help!

ETA: it is found in the "braid extensions regimen"

Not sure if you have removed them yet but I have found Giovanni vitapro is a great detangler. Give that a try.
