Is there anything else that I can or should take with biotin to eliminate breakouts?

I had to cut biotin out all together because even though I upped my water intake tremendously, I was still breaking out back and the pimples were leaving dark marks. My hair is important to me but so is my skin so we had to part ways and my skin calmed down immediately.

How much are/were you ladies taking?

I just ordered biotin from Puritan's Pride. It should be hear today. I keep hearing stories like these though and now I'm afraid to take it. I purchased the 1000 mcg. I can't remember if it's mg or mcg.

The only thing that helped me avoid a biotin break out was that I would take the first tablet and break it into forths, take one forth the first day drink tons of water. The next day take two fourths, drink tons of water and the next three little fourths and the last day a whole pill.

It seems like if you ease it into your system you'll have a better chance of no breakouts.

I stopped taking biotin because it gave me hair in places that I didn't want it!

Cut your dose in half and drink more water. Once your skin clears up, keep taking the lower dose for another 2-3 weeks. Then slowly start increasing again.

Do you take them during the day or at night?

My breakouts and itchies are much less now that I'm taking them in the evening.

Are you taking a b-complex (ex. b50 complex) vitamin with the biotin? When I initially took biotin, I had a few pimples (nothing serious and no scarring) but now my skin is all clear. However, that was cleared up when I upped my water intake and took a b50 complex vitamin along with my biotin. I also believe that the pimples appearing was just my body's way of adjusting to the addition of a new vitamin.

what's a hot air brush?

thanks for your replies ladies.

I normally drink a lot of water but will admit that I slack off somedays.

Biotin gives me bumps on my neck, back and faceM in addition to more growth on my body. That's a headache, but I'm willing to deal with it because I know it will help my hair.

I have very thin edges and nape. biotin actually helped strengthen my nape.

Two questions. One lady said that I should split one pill into for days. (I take the capsule form.) Is it still as effective this way? I have the 5 mg pills.

2nd question - I just purchased a GNC b vitamin yesterday for metabolism and energy. will this help eliminate the breakouts or should I exclusively take B-complex?

My biotin comes in capsule form, so it can't be broken down into fours. Will you get the same growth effect this way? just curious.

I too get extra hair growth in unwanted areas, but I need the biotin to help strengthen my nape & edges.

Thanks for your suggestions. keep it comin.
