It's PEELING! Oh no, I'm not kidding, it's coming off in sheets just like a caucasian's sunburned back!
I only saw it in my hairline and had my friend check the rest of my scalp for me. I spent TWO hours getting it out and I just washed my hair YESTERDAY!!
I have had these cornrows in my hair for almost three weeks. The lady that did them for me began parting my hair and said that I had that sh*t. I'm like WTF is she talking about. She begins scratching my scalp and saying that she can't remember the name of it but when she went to cosmetology school she learned about it and for me not to worry because it wasn't as bad as her moms.
So I asked her repeatedly to elaborate and between her and my friend that introduced me to her, I just kept getting the run around which only had me more upset. If you don't know what you're talking about..... I asked her how did she know I had whatever it was she was diagnosing me with and how on earth do I get rid of it. She said it just 'looks' different than dandruff and to use Sulfur 8.
I have been using Sulfur 8 and washing my hair once a week and deep conditioning with cholestorol for an hour. I noticed that my hairline seemed really tight and shiny the other day, not the same texture as the rest of my scalp and not as many folicle holes as the majority of my scalp.
I have been Surging for the past three weeks and I must say I am diggin this stuff right about now. I'll rave in another post after I am certain this growth isn't just a spurt and will actually continue. I use all three products to prevent dryness. I seriously don't think it is product buildup because like I said, I just washed my hair yesterday. Also, I took a section of it and tried to dissolve it with water. It got 'cleaner' but that's it, it is some sort of solid matter that is probably a layer of skin. Last week when I washed, just the water alone seemed too hot for my scalp and it was sensitive to the touch. Same thing yesterday, but I just figured this is what I have to endure to get this kind of growth. Darn near 3/4" already and I usually only get 1/2" in a month, IF that!
I did a search and saw some interesting posts. I don't think I have eczema, but I could be wrong. What do I really need to do to stop this and get my hairline to fill in? I know it was kinda sparse before the braids and I can't really tell what's going on right now because it's in cornrows. It's all fuzzy.
So please, SOMEONE tell me what this is and what to do. I had to calm myself down from the initial disgust just to deal with this 'situation.' Now I want to make sure it doesn't happen again.
