Im trying to use less heat on my hair so i was wondering would it work if i wash and braided my hair( 8or 9 cornrows back) and then flatironed it out the next day would that be effective in getting my hair straight? Because i figured that way i would be eliminating blowdryers all together. By the way i cant rollerset so i have to go to my stylist for that!

Why not airdry in a ponytail? There is a thread about the ponytail method of airdrying that gets your hair pretty straight. I'll look for the thread and post it here when I find it.

ETA:
here's one thread I found:

With this method you might not have to use the flat iron unless you want it bone straight.

Welcome, LamLove121!

If you are trying to get your hair straight, you don't want to braid it (which creates waves/curls) and then flatiron it. If you want to eliminate heat, besides the ponytail method already mentioned, rollersetting is the way to go to straighten hair. There is a ponytail rollerset method also which makes things easier when learning. I'll see if I can find the link for that.

My hair comes out straight when I do air dry rollersets. I use a leave in, rollers that are not to small and that's it.
