Alright this may be long
Last July I decided to go without heat for a few months. I fell in love with my hair! I was doing everything right…the henna, baggy, finger comb, sealing moisture…EVERYTHING. I can say that my hair loved the attention and repaid me with growth! I cannot tell you how fabulous my nature thin hair was feeling.
It was thick and on its way to becoming healthy. Well, my no-heat journey lasted until December, the only reason I straighten my hair was because my curls would not fit under my graduation cap.
Well, after that was over I went back to my curls and fell back in love with my almost BSL plumb hair. This is where my happiness turned into tears… My grandma is always telling me that she like my hair better straight. So for her 76th surprise birthday party I decided to straighten my hair. Well I can honestly say I wish to God I never did that!!!
My flat iron must have set itself on hell because it burned my poor hair out my head. I always start with the back of my hair when I flatten it out. At first I didn’t notice anything wrong, than the smell hit me. So I stopped and made sure there was nothing on my flat iron. There was nothing there so I continued with the next section. The next thing I hear was a sizzling sound and my poor hair curled up like it was wet! I swear I have never poured water on my hair so fast in my life. Yet, the damage was done; my hair had already begun to fall out. I went to the shop and had the lady cut off the burned parts of my poor hair. Now every time I take a shower and detangle my hair I’m getting clumps of it in my hands. At this point I don’t know if there is anything I can do to stop it. I think this may be one of those times were I have to start over with what is left. The only blessing out of this is that I started with the very back of my head and not the front!!!
Has this ever happen to you ladies, if so how in the world did you bounce back from it. I really need help, I want to cry every time I detangle. This set back is for the birds…
