My mom was lighting a candle, and the front of her hair caught the flame. I don't have any pics but it's not bad. The front inch maybe is a bit scorched. Can you tell me what she can do to recover her hair from this.
What I did was trim a little bit of the damaged area and then let it grow back with my regular wash and DC once a week regimen. It really wasnt that bad
burned/scorched hairs melts and then hardens. This would in theory ruin that section of the shaft. She may have to trim. You could try d/c but the reharded hair will have a distinctive different texture from the rest of the hair and will likely need to be cut as it will eventually break off. Tell your mother so sorry.
Ah wow, I'm so sorry for your mom, and glad she's okay. Not much to do as far as recovery from scorched hair. If it didn't curl back on itself, you could try a heavy duty protein, but I wouldn't suggest a hardening protein like Aphogee 2 step. And you'd probably want to bump those treatments to 1x a week for a month - see if there is any improvement. Many would tell you to cut, but if you are trying to save it, don't manipulate much.
My sister had a similar experience except for she SET HER WHOLE HEAD ON FIRE...
She was putting in individual extensions and started lit a cigarette so the end of her braid caught on fire. Her immediate reaction was to flick the braid to the back of her head.
Anywhooos the back of her head wasnt done but it was greased.
I guess the flammability of the grease caused her whole HEAD TO IGNITE IN FLAMES!
IT JUST SPEAD SO QUICKLY.
i gave her reconstuctors, deep conditioners, and EVERYTHING in between.
Nothing worked. It wasnt even heat damage it was 5 alarm fire damage lol
She just had to cut the burned part off and grow it out.
