Why is Henna so popular? Is this mostly a hair dye? What health benefits does this give the hair? It sounds like a hair tattoo to me. I mean I see the shine it gives, but is this only way to get that shine?

I know very little about these things.

You may want to do a search. There is SO MUCH info on this board about it. Also, it may be easier to google it because our threads are so long here. This site may help: http://www.hennaforhair.com/

I don't want to feel like a broken record about henna because we talk about it so much here, but it is not all about color. Some of us we don't even use it for coloring effects.

It is a great conditioner for hair. Personally henna has really thickened my hair. It has a different effect than protein for me. I still have to get protein treatments because I tend to over moisturize, but alternating between henna and protein and keeping moisturized in between has really thickened and strengthened my fine hair. The elasticity is out of this world. I do get the shine, as well. I have forgotten what my hair used to be like before using henna and other herbal treatments for my hair (cassia, Shikakai amla, etc) :)

Ok thanks. I will have to do that. I see it so much on here and never really understood what it was all about.

Yeah, the threads about henna can be pretty overwhelming because there is so much dialogue about it. That Henna for Hair site has lots of good information.

iIREALLY NEED A THREAD THAT TELLS ME EVERYTHING ABOUT HENNA. WHICH ONES TO USE....HOW TO APPLY???

I WOULD LIKE TO TRY BUT HAVE NO IDEA WHERE TO START

That site was really helpful. I may try it in the future. Have any Naturals who are 4a/b with fine hair used this?

All of these threads can become so overwhelming. I actually would like to know WHAT IS HENNA, lol. I read the FAQ on the hennaforhair website, but it only answered a few of my questions. I would really like to know if henna is permanent or not...the FAQ gives this long drawn out answer, when I would really prefer a "yes" or "no." I still don't know if it's permanent or not, but the answer makes it seem as if it could be ::shrugs:: Henna seems a bit too complicated anyway.
