My NG is hell to deal with at this point. My hair is so dry its not even funny. I'm about 20 wks post and I'm tryna hold out on a relaxer til I can get my hair strong again. It is week and feeble at this point. Everytime, it got bad I would run to a relaxer, and I know now thanks to this forum that that is not right! But this dry, hard NG is making me sick! I was almost in tears last night tryna flat iron the matted bastards (excuse the language, lol). THe Maxiglide, thank god is a dream, but it still took me like 6 hours, no lie!!!

SO can i get any moisturizer recs?
Conditioners?
Shampoos? Preferably super hydrating and detangling
Any thing else u can offer?
I know u ladies can!!!

TIA!:(

I've been there, I'm sure most of us have.

I love Phyto Nectar Shampoo (very moisturizing)
Keracare Humecto Moisturizing Conditioner
Bonnet for the dryer (great for deeper penetration of the conditioner)
ACV, or clarifier (nothing works if there's too much build-up already on the hair)

Thanks, sereca. I have heard alot about Humecto on here. I think I might give it a whirl...

u can try s curl or ntm leave in to soften to the new growth. just make sure to always keep the new growth moisturized.

As for the NTM, is the Silk-touch that u were refering to? or the serum....And DDTexlaxed, Co-washes are too much to do on my run around...BUt I may try to incorporate them, thanks.....

As for WGO and Mango Butter, do these go on the scalp also? or just the NG?

Mane N Tail Shampoo and Conditioner
Nexxus Therappee Shampoo & Humectress or Generic version from Sally's
Sta Sof Fro rub on moisturizer

I wash and condition with cream of nature and then deep conditon every week with Lustrasilks cholesterol conditioner, honey and olive oil mixed together. Also try using a hot oil treatment first. I use olive oil mixed with hot six oil and castor oil and heat it up and put a plastic cap over it for about 30 min. Sometimes I sit under the dryer if my apartment is not hot. This really helps control my new growth, makes it soft and wavy. I hope this helps:)

Wild Growth Oil
Elasta QP Mango Butter
Conditioner Washes
Jojoba Oil
Giovanni Direct Leave-In
A homemade moisture mix
J/A/S/O/N Sea Kelp Conditioner
Daily Defense Tender Apple

KeraCare Humecto always leaves my new growth very soft and wavy even at 18 weeks post relaxer. I think Carols Daughter Hair Milk has worked pretty well at taming my new growth as well but I haven't used it for a while. :)

Paul Mitchell Super Skinny Daily Treatment and Super Skinny Serum. I have 23 months of new growth and I just started using this again. After using it, I can only see the "newest" new growth (about 1 1/2 inches). I love this stuff!! I stopped using it because I didn't have access to the Pro shop all the time; but now that I am in Cosmo school, I can get it all of the time. I like how my hair separates easily after it has dried. This is the only system that I will be using in addition to a protein conditioner for a long time.

i put wgo on the new growth but if it get's on my scalp, that's ok...it's kind of hard to avoid. i also put it on my ends, and a few drops in my keracare headress when i use that.

Co washes are great for when your stretching. I usually stretch for about 7-8 months and I find that co washes help A LOT with NG. I like Dominican conditioners like miss Key 10 en 1 plus...cuts right through the naps. And I like Elasta's Mango butter for moisture and curl/wave definition...this stuff controls NG like a dream for me.

i just picked up some Mango butter...Gotta clarify before I use anymore prods on my hair...

Its not so much the products what you do with your hair after washing. I am a 2 year transitioner and I've learned that I MUST set my hair after washing, either in braids or a roller set. I use a denman d3 brush to smooth each section before setting. Try this! You will not be dissappointed!
Your hair is not out to get you. It is not going to matt up and dred after it has been properly set and allowed to dry.
