Hey all I appreciate all the warm welcomes I recieved but I need a HUGE favor from you all! I want to grow my hair to chin length but I don't see many relaxed ladies on the board with hair as short as mine. What should I be doing? I usually wear a half wig with my hair braided underneath. I co-was with Suave Conditioners and deep conditioner with Motions CPR or Aloe Vera Cholestorol. I have never had long hair and I know that it is possible. I trimmed a little to even it up but I don't know how I can style it. I think the half wigs are hurting my edges and nape so I would like to wear it down sometime but the heat is a big factor. My hair is very limp too, are my hair goals realistic? I simply want thick and healthy chin length hair. I need some help. Please Help Me Help Myself. Build me a regimen please! Oh yeah and I have not relaxed since October 5, 2005!

Welcome,
yes your goals more than realistic and you CAN achieve them.
Are you conditioner CW instead of shampooing, 2-3x/week or daily.
shampoo is bad it dries the hair out.
deep conditioning treatments 1/week
vitamins
don't worry about getting your hair even now, hair doesnt grow evenly, 1 part grows a little outward 1st then the others, after youve reached your goal then you can even it up.
youre wearing a half wig, you may want to try a ful wig maybe a headband wig, less pressure on the front hairs and/or balding receding hairline you don't want that but you want them to be protected too.
do a search here, check out my weblinks in my siggy.
BTW youre title is hilarious

Hi,
Your hair goals are Completely Realistic. When I started out my hair was just about 2 inches pass yours, now its about 2 inches pass my shoulders. When my hair was that length i shampooed once everyweek, followed by a deep conditioner (Protein, Moisture). I would do rollersets then sit under a dryer to dry. For styling scarfs was my best friend. I would wrap every night, wake up and just fluff out. Sometimes i slept with the soft flexi rods to add more bounce. I also used a lot of accessories like head bands, clips, etc..to spice up the look. You can also throw it up with some clips. Also make sure to keep touch ups at least 6-16 weeks apart. Your hair should be chin length in no time.

Thanks ladies I appreciate all the help! I look forward to lots of growth in the future. I have been using Surge 14 and I love it! Once I get some extra money I am going to purchase some of the other products mentioned! Thanks!!!!

hi! this is the longest my hair has ever been. i'm co-signing with Lorraine on "the wrap". it's easy to do and minimizes heat on your hair. when i wrap, i only comb my hair once a day! i'm sure that helps too.

sleep on a satin scarf/pillow

the other ladies gave you great advice... I just wanted to drop in and say that yes you CAN do it! YOU CAN! I remember when I first started out, I had already settled into the mindframe that I was just not meant to have hair any longer than what it was. My hair just wasn't good enough. My genes were just not good enough. Why should I have believed any differently-- shucks I was 20 years old with hair that had been that length forever. Here I am a year later and my hair is the longest it has ever been in all those years and its still growing! I just want you to be encouraged and know that it is totally within reach for you.

I too was a non believer before I joined this site. I agree with the others who have said that it can happen. When I found LHCF last summr my hair was about your length now. Now nearly 8 months later I am inching closer to the chin length. I"m not there yet but I am seeing a difference in length. Others have begun to notice it too. In addition to finding products that work with you hair I have found two other aspects have been helpful: Vitamins and braids. Before taking vitamins my hair would grow 1/3 inch or so. Now that Im taking my vitamins I do get the 0.5 inch per month (although the front still grows slower than the back). I'm taking a multi-vitamin and biotin. Braids are great too because its less manipulation and they look great. You're already doing kind of thing though with the wigs. So just keep doing what you're doing. We're all in it together!

Nexxus Therapy and Humectress conditioner every 4days, works wonders Humectress as a deep conditioning treatment. The use of lye relaxers is better than the no-lye, no-lye chemicals tend to dry the hair.

Hey MWLH! I would suggest pre-pooing and shampooing once a week, and CO washing 1-3 times a week. AOGPB treatments are great 1-2 times a month to keep your hair's strength and elasticity. Vitamins are also helpful for growth, as well as protein shakes. Keep your ends moisturized with the baggie method or do your whole head with a conditioning cap. Daily massages get the blood flowing to your scalp jumpstarting growth as well. Most of all find a good moisturizer and do protective styling to help you retain growth. As far as products, there are so many out there and everyone's preference is different. I say, find products that cater to your hair's needs; what works for me, may not work for you. And YOU CAN DO IT! You'll be there before you know it:grin: .

Thanks everyone! Wow this is exciting  I am so happy now! Thanks for a the pictures that showed where you started out. Now I know I can do this for sure! Well I have decided to co-wash every two days and deep condition once a week. I have vitamins that I will start taking next week and of course I will surge til my bottle runs dry ;)
This board is the best out there hands down!

Good luck in your goals! The ladies have given you great advice. Time and patience is all it takes.

ITA. I am still very early in my hair journey. Learn ways to better manage your hair and reduce breakage (combing/cleansing/moisturizing techniques). What I have recently done was find a low maintenance style that I like and occassionally dress it up or down with accessories and jewlery. That way I'm enjoying the hair that I have now while letting time do it's thing.

If I can grow my hair, anyone can.
My FORMER hairstylist told me I had "bad hair" lol....seriously tho, my hair is extremly fragile. I think your goal can definitely be achieved.

That's so negative and discouraging. Stylists said that my hair was too thick and would break off, to me so I would relax. I hope you don't go to her anymore.
