HEllo,
Can anyone adivse. I've been having shedding for approx. the past 1-1/2 months now. It seems that my hair started after my visit to the salon 6 weeks ago. I just washed it today (instead of my regular conditioning washes), hoping to save my hair.
I do not have a permanent relaxer on my hair. It's all natural. I should have known because in the past I did not do well with various "leave-in" treatments.

Please help me :-(

I used this:

Infusium 23 Maximum Body Leave-In Treatment

for Fine/Thin Hair

Have you tried a protein treatment?

I second that. You might need to do a protein treatment followed by a deep conditioning treatment with heat if you can. Since your hair is natural...a ligher protein might be in order such as Nexxus Keraphix or Elasta QP Breakage Control Serum.:)

You could also try Nutrine Garlic Shampoo or Alter Ego Oil Treatment with Garlic. I think Nexxus Emergencee also helps with shedding.

High Priestess ((hug))

I can totally relate. When I was pregnant, but before I realized I was, my hair was MASSIVELY shedding, to the point that I wound up with a bald spot. That was scary. Turns out it was the hormones causing my hair to shed. Most women don't experience that, but I was one of the lucky few. :smirk: I bought a bottle of Surge and it really did start my hair turning around (as did entering the 2nd trimester).

A few years ago, when I was NOT pregnant but had a shedding problem, I took MSM (methylsulfonyl methane), powder form, from Puritan's Pride. It worked like a charm. I didn't take it when I was shedding during pregnancy b/c I wasn't sure what impact it would have on the baby. Otherwise, the doctor gave me the ok and it was a Godsend. There's also some type of garlic shampoo that I know Tracy has sung the praises of (try sending her a PM). ETA: Nevermind, Bocagirl gave the name of the garlic shampoo. :)

Good luck!

I read somewhere on this forum that you can make a pre-poo with Biotin and Conditioner that elimates shedding. I'll find it and post it here.

sounds like your hair might also need moisture. Try a moisturizing conditioner to prevent your hair from drying out.

Like someone else mentioned I would do a light protein treatment. Aubrey's Organic GBP is excellent. I would follow up with a deep moisturizing conditioner with heat. Using a good detangler will also help as well.

Last week I tried Lustra Silk's Cholesterol protein. I also tried QP Elasta conditioner (Intense) and I also regularly use the Oil Moisturizer. I don't seem to have a problem with moisture. I wonder if I'm moisturizing too much?
Thanks for your imput.

Hello.
I will try a deep conditioning treatment with heat. I haven't used the heat method at home in quite awhile. I just hope I'm not over-conditioning my hair.
Thanks for your reply.

I didn't read the other posts, but I had great results with KerapHix and Emergencee. My shedding stopped immediately.

Hi bocagirl. Is there any specific one for conditioning or shampooing, or is this
it?

Thanks

Thanks Nyambura,
I hope I don't get bald spots. I'm so afraid because I've made soooo much progress from when I started with you gals here in the forum. Could you please tell me where to buy the garlic shampoo? Is this a black hair care product? I don't feel very welcome in my neighborhood Sally's...never did, so I will have to go someplace else. My energy is too important to hold on to and the "stress" is not needed...especially with shedding hair.
Thanks again.

Thanks but I think I might be using too much moisture...it's not dry.

Thanks for your input Michelle3147

So protein treatments are suppose to stop shedding too???

I did a protein treatment with ElastaQP Breakage Control Serum during my last wash and had MAJOR shedding/hair loss!!!

Wanna stop shedding use Shapley's MTG...that's my commercial for the day

Poohbear how often do you comb through your hair?
During that 2 week period that I waited to wash my hair, I combed it everyday and wrapped my hair every night...

Thanks bocagirl,
You were totally right. I found a great place after making over a dozen phone calls (not exaggerating) that sold Nexxus Emergencee'. I rinsed my hair and immediately applied it and sat under a hood heated dryer for 20 minutes. I know the instructions say about 10 minutes, but I was desperate. I went from being afraid of combing my hair until yesterday. I am soooo happy now there's no more shedding. I never imagined I would encounter this problem because I work so hard to insure proper moisture and care for my hair.
Now I think I will use this product at least once a month.
Again, thank you so much. I can't thank you enough. Did I thank you?

Thanks everyone for your support. I'm very pleased to know that I have options and real people to ask opinions.
