Hi ladies, I need some help please. I believe I have type 4a/4b hair. My hair is relaxed, I want to go natural. I do not want to chop all my hair off at once. What should I do?? I'm lost. I was never really good at doing my hair.................thanks
You'll find fotkis of transitioners in the above threads...
I'm almost 13 months into my transition... My fotki: http://members.fotki.com/MummysGirl/about/. I just created a blog and youtube channel, PM me if you want details (or any help)
I am about 7 months post relaxer and I am not going to cut my hair all off. I currently alternate between wearing half wigs and sewn in weaves. I have had about an inch cut off because my ends needed it. I will probably just get my stylist to cut off an inch or so at a time until all the relaxed ends are gone, which should take approximately 2 years.
You do NOT have to cut all your hair off. Many of the ladies here do it because of having to deal with 2 different textures can be taxing and it is easier for them just to start with a clean slate, if you will.
Hi! You don't have to chop all of your hair off, you can do something called transitioning. how often do you relax your hair currently? Because if you are not accustomed to stretching your relaxer, this may be a challenge. Good luck!
I'm 4ab as well and transitioning. I'm 5 months post at the moment. The best thing you can do is do loads of research and look at transitioners and naturals regimens to see what you'd like to try.
I'm transitioning as well and im almost 17 months post relaxer u have to decide if u want to go natural and transitioning is the best way cuz u can always change ur mind but the most important thing for me at first was learning about my hair as my new growth grew out i had to figure out how to moisturize properly and take care of my hair as if it were all natural oh and i rarely use heat too so i looked into a lot of protective styles which i still do now such as braids, wigs, half wigs and im planning on doing a sew in sometime this year.
the most important thing that helps is researching yes youtube, here on lhcf transitioning thread just read as much as u can and u'll be suprised at wat u learn and try looking at pics with natural heads that helps keep the discouragement down and prepare yourself mentally U are free to PM me when ever i have 4ab hair too
