Ok , so last week I went and bought a potpourri oil burner! I just got back from my health food store. I'm headed home (at the library right now) and I plan on infusing:

Thyme
Sweet Basil
Hibiscus (flowers cut)
Brahmi
Maka
EVCO
Jojoba Oil
Seaseme Oil

This is my first oil infusion ever. I'm nervous, but excited to get my Mixterss on! :woot:

I don't know how much of which I'm going to use. Any suggestions out there would be so appreciated...

Sounds like a great recipe, the thread above is a good one. How are you going to use the oil? pre-poo?
I've made infusions by placing the herbs/powder directly in the oil. I've also done it by steeping the powders/herbs in water first, then poured that mixture into the oil, slow cook until the water evaporates. The second way is supposed to be more potent. HTH :look:

Thanks ladies. Yeah, I've read that and quite a few other threads over the past few months about ayurveda and oil infusions. I was just hoping someone could help me in the area of actually measuring out how much of which I wanted to use.

Lola, currently I use my ayurvedic oils as my pre-poo but also I massage my scalp 4-6 nights a week with it as well.

Ok, so I needed to bump this. I decided to make a shikakai infusion instead. Anyway, I let it settle in the potpourri pot for almost 48hrs after cooking 5hrs.

I put it in a coffee filter to strain. WHY is it taking 15+hours for this to strain?! Is this normal? I was hoping to have it strained and ready to use in like 30 min lol. i'm so anxious to use this stuff it's ridiculous.
