I hate this happened to you:sad:! It happened to me before, and I lost my hair but, I wasn't up on my LHCF knowledge.

I'm actually about to dye again and will heed the advice that has been offered to you.

I think another member mentioned this but a mild relaxer will sustain your hair. I used Affirm Fiber guard, hair won't be as straight but you'll still have it.

So, the protein treatment lasted about a weak and the breakage started again. I don't know if I'm supposed to do the Aphogee 2 step weekly or what.

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that I have to cut. *burst to tears*

But, who knows, Maybe this is a sign for me to start that natural journey I've been to afraid to finish becuase I never wanted to cut. (I would transition for around 6 months and then be too afraid to cut my hair)

Thanks everyone for helping, but I think the damage is too far gone :(

Go ahead and try wearing your natural hair. Just transition until you feel it's long enough for you to cut. It don't have to be 6 months, it can be 1 year, 2 years, 3 years...or til the ends just fall off!

Aphogee 2 step should only be used every 6-8 weeks because it is a heavy/hard protein treatment. If you feel that your hair needs more protein, you can use Aphogee 2 min keratin every other week to maintain the protein but make sure that you keep up with your DCs as well.

I understand what you're going through as I am growing out my last salon perm from a couple of years ago, when she would perm from roots to tip every 6 weeks :nono:. I opted to slowing trim/dust the ends every perm to slowly get rid of the overprocessed hair. I have about 2-3 inches left to go. Its a slow process, but a learning experience so you know what to avoid from here on out. :yep:

Well these trmts don't last very long-- and aphogee just doesn't seem too natural. but a moderate natural/organic protein that rebuilds or "restructures" the strand is aubrey organics gpb (ao gpb). It can be used weekly, and in my opinion is the best cond'r on the market. I use once a week.

Have u thought of tansitioning w/regular trims once u reach ur desired length. Relaxers are just too unpredictable-- u never kn when the chemical will Melt ur hair off

try alternating btw the following conditioners:
mill creek keratin
ao gbp
ao j.a.y
ao honeysuckle rose

vitacost.com and vitaminshoppe.com have them for a cheaper price. i agree withe ladies about steering clear of blow dryer and flat-irons. try bunning and moisturize and seal. for water based mosturizers i like:
oyin hair dew
komaza coconut curl lotion
komaza shea butter hair lotion

komaza also make a protein strengthener that can be used more often than the aphogee and i like it better.....gradually trim your hair every 6-8 weeks and continue to monitor it closely.

Its breaking from the top... long thick pieces of hair are coming out together. This is my worst nightmare.

I've decided that I will cut 2-3 inches and get some sort of protective style and try to do a long transition and cut every few months. :-( I don't want to damage anymore. The sad part is it was damaged last summer and I got it cut to chin length and it grew out so healthy. It was so healthy i thought it would be okay to dye it. Wow I need to keep chemicals away from my hair!

Run, not walk LOL, to Sally's and get a tube of Excelsior Mellennia Mudd intensive hair reconstructor! I've been using this for over 10 years!!!!! Every time I've damaged or over processed my hair or my girls messed their hair up I use this & it strengthens your hair! Once back in the early 90s within 3 months I permed, dyed & sun-in lightened my hair; needless to say my hair was so damaged that every time I washed it the ends were chipping (lil pieces would break off my ends) off! I went to Sally's & a clerk recommended this product to me & when I used it no chipping I skipped using & the chipping started again! It worked then & I've used it ever since! I've included a pic of the bottle:

^^^^thanks for sharing this! Do you mind me asking if whether or not this contains cones and/or glycerin?

Thanks in advance for your response,

I have tried to transition every year for the past three years. I'll get to about 4-6 mos no relaxer and panic becuase of the two different textures. I think If I do transition I will need to get a protective style or something. I cannot deal with the "ugly" stage at all. I'm not self conscious but I always keep my hair done LOL I never like to be the bad hair day girl and lawwwd when I was transitioning I was looking a MESS lol

will this work to keep my hair healthy while i do a long term transition, using in between protective styles like sew ins.
I'm afraid the threading will break the hair even more.
