Hi,

Ok so I just spent a week picking my 350 micro sisterlocks out of my hair. Once I got to the last lock I realized I must have lost my damn mind. I know I don't want to relax my hair. I think I can maybe try to set my hair or something. I don't even know if my hair is long enough for curlformers and I suck at using magnetic rollers. I have about 4 inches of hair. Is this long enough? I don't have a bunch of money to waste. I just need some support right now as I think I am just going into shock. Sigh . . .

I don't have any suggestions except for take a deep breath and have fun with you loose hair! 4in 'fro would look really cute with a headband!

Thanks for the reply. After a few hours of sleep I feel a little more rational. I don't know if I thought I was going to have this miraculous hair transformation or what. It's just that it is so short. My locs were shoulder length. After trimming away the see through ends I know have pretty shirt hair. I think I am just going to go get some rollers and try setting it. I am going to see if I can figure out how to post some before and after pics.

see now i had a random fit a couple weeks back and cut my hair off (had about 4-5 inches) and then faded it yesterday. Im kind of regretting it now. Sodon't make a move to quicky out of fustration because now im looking like "i could have been this legnth by so and so"..even doe i do love my fade:grin:.Just be sure!

I don't mean to sound crazy to you, but shaving your hair off isn't the craziest idea, for I have gone to the hairdresser about 10 or 11 years ago and asked for them to shave it off with only leaving a peach fuzz that they could bleach and dye ash blonde. It was invigorating and I was able to start fresh. That was the first time lol, yes I said first time and I was natural for 7 years until I hit a wall with my natural unruly hair again and had a different stylist cut it all off again about 4 years ago to start fresh with Dominican relaxing and styling. My hair is almost mid back now, so don't ever get discouraged. Hair does grow back, and sometimes it is best to go that extreme so that you can start fresh!

Good luck!

hi tee- setting it with rollers sounds good. or you can do a braid out , i bet that would really cute. i have pics in my fotki of a rollerset i did that looked like a curly afro lol. but i bet it would look even cuter on shorter hair. to jazz it up, go to your local bss and get some spray on hair color in the aerosal can. they cost up $5 and you can get gold, red, pink, whatever you want. and do some highlights throughout or do your tips, etc.i bet that would be really cute.and all you have to do is wash it out when you dont want it anymore. practice some styles honey. imo shorter hair is so much easier to work with and experiment on. go online and look at some hairstyles for people with short hair . find some inspiration girl

:bighug: I know how you feel - it wasn't 350 micro sisterlocks, but it was at least 200 tiny APL length locks - and I went from there to a teeny weeny fro. Shocking wasn't even the WORD for it.

Do something wild and funky - esp. if you want to grow your hair out, this is the shortest it will ever be! I went bleached blond and then red - had to end up cutting it all off, but it was fun while it lasted.

If you wanna shave it all off - go head! Give yourself a super fresh start - sometimes I wish I did, as I KNOW I'm not shaving my head at any point now til the future, ya know?

I wore a LOT of puffros, and wash & go's - two strand twists twisted onto themselves to form a bantu knot is cute too - esp. once you untwist them - very funky little twist out it makes.

Hey Tallen,

I hope what ever you do makes you happy. Just wanted to let you know I have about 4 1/2 inches of hair and curlfomers works great on my short hair. I would recommend buying one pack to see if they work for you and if not return them. Cost: 10.99 a pack and 3.99 for the hook at select Sallys.

Also if you have rollerset dilema please invest in Marcherie's rollerset DVD (best purchase I have ever made for my hair). $17 bucks plus shipping and handling. HealthyTextures.com

I must also say some people look very beautiful w/ a shaved head.

Thank you all so much for responding. The hair I have left looks healthy. After I trimmed several inches it doesn't look like split ends or anything. It's just really different. I decided to do something funky after all. I am very into living as chemical free as possible so the ayurvedic route looks like a good route. I just got back from the store (drumroll please). . .and I decided a little "color" and curl before my SO gets home wouldn't be amiss. I have a couple of hours. I am going to try some henna for color. I got all the powders at a local indian grocery. Then I am going to try setting with the curlformers I just got at SAlly's. I will post my pics tonight or if it takes long to dry in the morning. I am feeling much better. Thanks for all the support. You guys are awesome!
