Hi,

I am currently studying abroad and I live in an area where the water is highly chlorinated. During my first semester it made a MESS of my hair! My hair turned a light reddish brown color and it began breaking off in large amounts. I used protein condition but the hair still continued breaking and is still breaking. What products can I use to prevent this problem with my hair?

I also tried air drying my hair but my hair turns out really puffy and the ends aren't smooth. I got a flat iron but I am so afraid to use it because I am unsure of what it would do.

My hair has not been properly relaxed since I came here. I go to the salon to get it done but my scalp begins burning me before my hair is properly processed.

It's a dilemma! :nono:... what do I do? I want my hair to grow nicely.

Also if someone can give me a list of vitamins for healthy hair and skin that doesn't make you feel like you're about to throw up when u take them, or those that you dont have to take with meals...It will be appreciated greatly. With my hectic schedule I don't always get to eat a heavy meal and I was using perfectil which had me feeling sick for hours after I took it even with food.

Thanks for your help...

On the hard water issue..

Are you able to install a water filter? That will definitely help with the chlorine in the water. I noticed a HUGE difference after the first wash. Also, you'll need a good chelating poo.

I use Aphogee Keratin 2min, I used it about a a month ago. I bought the ors olive oil claryfying neutralizing shampoo because it said it is good for washing out minerals and stuff like that. I'm guessing that it is for hard water. I use infusium 23 leave-in. I wash my hair once per week because of time and also because I am afraid to blow dry to often. Got classes throughout the day. It's pretty simple. I am trying to get a proper regime...if anyone can help I would love it.

when's the last time you had a good deep conditioner? also what is your regimine? :)

I wish I could. I leave at the school dorm, so I doubt it. Is the ORS Olive Oil Creamy Aloe Shampoo a good one? It says that it removes calcium build up, Restores Moisture etc. I am going to the pharmacy tomorrow so I'm hoping to get some new products because I realise that I don't have a a normal moisturizing shampoo or conditioner. Any advice please?

Hi Addie. You need to deep condition (w. plastic cap under a hooded dryer or hot towel) after each wash or do conditioning washes. Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize, and seal in moisture with oil. For the water, try getting a water filter as suggested by ElleDoll. A couple of questions for you:

Do you wear protective styles?

Can you allow your hair to air dry over night?

Oh I forgot hair vits'

I've been taking GNC Hair, Skin and Nails and Hair Nourish vit's, these don't make me feel ill. I tried prenatal vitamins and those made me feel :perplexed when I took them in the morning so I started taking them at night.

Thank you so much. I wrap my hair at night as a protective measure. I guess I can allow it to dry over night... does this mean once a week wash is not enough ? I will try to get a filter as well tomorrow... I will try to deep condition. I usually use the aphogee for the 2 mins up to 5 mins... I will try deep conditioning and I will see if my hair improves. The water makes it really hard and ugly. I will try my best.

Thank you.

That is a good shampoo. It sounds like the minerals and cholrine really did a number on your hair. Use the ORS shampoo every wash. Its a chelating shampoo which will remove the minerals.

Hi Addie,

If it turns out that you can't install a water filter, just get some bottled water and pour it over your hair as a final rinse. I'm planning on getting a filter very soon, but in the meantime, that's what I do. HTH.

That's the key beside water filter and chelating poo, I think your regimen lack Moisture increase the moisture of your hair:
DC once or twice a week and moisturise your hair daily and cowash U can poo once a week or once every two weeks (depends of the build up):yep:

The Name of the Shampoo is ORS Creamy Aloe Shampoo. It is a neutralizing shampoo that removes calcium, iron and other element build up it also softens and detangles. I let my room mate use it and she loves the way it made her hair. It's a chelating shampoo, i think.

Thanks Everyone for your help. I added the ORS Moisturizing Lotion that is in the bottel after I washed my hair. I notice the hair is less brittle. I add a little every time it feels dry. Some is still falling out but compared to before it is nothing. Thank you so much. I thought that adding too much product to my hair would weigh it down. I was actually killing my hair

Gym,

What is the name of the ORS shampoo? I think I need to chelate badly. TIA
