Ok here goes...need tips on this, I'm nursiing and in the top of my hair is itching where I had gotten significant breakage, since the original breakage it has grown 3 inches, but it itches so bad, and it's not dry, as a matter of fact oil doesn't absorb well in that area. Now my hair is just shedding all over, it's not bad but it shouldn't shed like it is since my hair is very healthy. I'm wondering if that could be b/c of my nursing.....please give tips. thanks.

i found one little piece of info....i dunno if its helpful, but its all i got...

i got it here - web page
For some women hair loss may be expected to occur during the first two to four months post-partum. Studies show that all the hair lost should regrow within six to 12 months.

how long has it been since your last relaxer? my hair was like this last week when I needed one really bad. It was so hard not to scratch bc it itched like crazy! and I got some breakage at the crown. After I relaxed everything was fine. I was at 10 weeks trying to make it to 12 but I now realize Im one of those ppl who needs to relax by 8 weeks or it snaps off like crazy no matter what.

Hadiyah, what I think you're experiencing is postpartum shedding. Trust me, I should know first hand. My son is 3 months old. I too am nursing. I don't really think the nursing has anything to do with it. Basically, during pregnancy, the growth cycle of your hair is extended due to the hormones in your system, thus it's not shedding as much. Once your body begins to return to normal, the hair starts shedding like crazy. I'm experiencing this big time. It's so depressing to see that I've decided to sport braids. Only the Lord knows how I'll respond when I take out the braids and see the shed hair.

I'm not experiencing breakage whereby there are broken pieces of hair, but shedding where you see the white bulbs at the ends of the hair strand. The itching... I haven't really experienced that.... Do you think it warrants a trip to the dermatologist?

Me personally decided to do braids. I say start giving your hair some TLC, but first find out why you're experiencing the intense itching just in that one spot. Don't try any new products. Take it from me, I didn't start any postpartum shedding until I decided to try Nutrine Garlic Shampoo....

Thanks, My last relaxer was July 3rd, so no I don't think it's that, and I been using the same products for a while, and yes the itching has been inb one area the area that the breakage occured, my shedding is all over and on July 3rd is when I had a trim, which it slowed the shedding down, some....just wondering, sorry for any misspells.....any more tips, advice, all is welcome.....I have to leave for a few so , if I don't respond fast I will later......
