Hey guys just got a relaxer today 8 weeks post--Went to Walmart's salon? the girl was new
I mean so new she just got out of hair school the end of May( I was shocked) oh well to make a long story short I do not want to say too much I gave her the link to this site trying to help her.

I know and feel in my head now with the smell and tingling sensation she did not rinsethe relaxer out completely I kept advising her on how to rinse me out good telling her make sure you get the sides and back but her water pressure and experience was just not there and plus the relaxer did not relax my entire head(Lord I know I will do my relaxers myself from now on)

I want to know when can I rewash my hair? I had a bad experience 4 years ago I am having flashbacks I know I need to neutralize soon! but how soon?

Thanks

Yikes, I am no professional but i would suggest giving another wash with a neutralizer again at home. It might make your hair revert but since the relaxer didnt take, you wont have to worry anyway.

Better to have a reverted relaxer than hair falling out.

Lets see what others say. Hopefully some of the hairboard members that are stylists can step in and give their input as well.

NEUTRALIZE now now now...you don't want hair to fall out of your head! You should follow with a protein treatment too just in case you hair is really broken down from having that relaxer in for such a long period! Maybe the 5 minute reconstructor by aphogee. You should never let a novice relax your hair or anyone really without checking their work first and asking questions....I didn't mean that in a mean way its just you have no way to tell whether their work will leave you working :nono:

Go RIGHT NOW!! Neutralize and let it sit on your hair and your scalp for sure for a while....again..RIGHT NOW!!!

Wash your hair again with neutralizer multiple times and at some point leave the neutralizing poo in for a few minutes. Also do a protein condish bc your hair probably needs strength if it has had relaxer in it this long

Buy all means shampoo agian if you feel youstill have chemical in your hair.....
Are you sure it is chemical still in the hair or is it chemical burn to the skin???

You are soooooooooooooooooooooooooooo right!!!! I know this, but after I walked in she was doing another relaxer I thought, I thought I throught wrong, I am crying now thanks for everything going off to pray, wash and neutralize my hair and use my reconstructor.

She was nice but no experience at all I should have known better when I looked up and saw her license was a piece of paper attached to the glass with tape her score 70 passing she got a 75 I should have ran over to the sink myself and started to wash it again.

Another sign the girl infront of me sat in the chair with wet hair and she started to blowdry it very slowly with a comb without putting anything on it for protector I heard the girl say just put me under the dryer first and her hair did not look relaxed and she did not look happy.

Thanks so much!!!

Thanks girl will do!! I was mad at my other stylist for making me wait almost 3 and half hours last week she had already finished my little sew in(the crown area) washed it and put me to the side while she ate, laughing, sucking her fingers and watched TV with a girlfriend then started to relax her friends hair after she put her friend under the dryer another person came in she started to do her hair I was so mad I told her I had to leave paid her and walked out with fly away hair.

I know God wants me to do my own hair which I do, I just don't do relaxers I tried once and got scared thanks everyone for all your great advice and support over the years.

we need a: TELL YOUR STYLIST IF YOU ARENT HAPPY WITH SOMETHING THEY ARE DOING CHALLENGE thread. We pay for these services and we really need to start speaking up if something isnt right. I talk to a lot of women who are scared to speak up about their salon services for some reason. These women will curse you out in a second but once you put them in a salon chair they clam up. I dont get it. You might be a salon beyotch but who cares :ohwell:

Jancan i really hope that neutralizer worked :yep:

I didnt read the other responses yet but my first thought is NOW! ASAP

How did your hair turn out after you washed it?

so far so good(knock on wood) and give thanks to the Lord and my all my sisters on board I washed it twice with Motions neutralizing shampoo let it sit for a while(5 mins) rinsed it out then I covered it amla hair oil don't know why I did it someone suggested using this on your hair for a pre poo but I was lead to use it in my hair it felt stronger after putting this on(this stuff is great) thanks to whomever on the board suggested-- I rinsed it out then used aphogee intensive keratin reconstructor for about 15 mins did not want to over do it.

After rinsing it all out I used aphogee balancing moisturizer let it sit for a few mins and
rinsed it all out put aphogee provitamin leave in conditioner rolled with red and purple rollers used salon finish foam wrap and style lotion put a little jojoba oil on the ends got under the dryer it looks and feel great and too relaxed I hate straight relaxed looking hair so it did not revert(I know don't have pictures but take my word it does)I wish I knew how to post pictures.

You know it feels ok(after taking a xanax) just kidding---I still get a little nervous and paranoid even after 4 years I still get emotional after relaxers. don't care if it reverts who cares I want to keep my hair

Thanks and love you guys!!
Jancan

It did!!! thanks for all your help, but you are right we need speak out more now I am not a salon beyotch(not anymore I used to be-- the stylist might think I am being a beyotch when I am telling them what I want.

Maybe I told her too much information yesterday maybe she was afraid I did go over things I wanted for my hair I told her to relax only the new growth, don't leave it in too long because I don't like it too straight but after thinking about everything I think she was afraid to touch it, it took her forever to put the relaxer in-- the water wasn't strong enough(she did not turn the water up or something) she was touching my hair like she was afraid of it I told her I was not tender headed just get all the relaxer out but I was nice about it I kept reminding her about the back. I don't think she rinsed it out completely due to the pressure in the water. Thank God for this board!!!!!

Honey it's OK to be scared. I was contemplating my THIRD big chop in four years because I could not get a decent relaxer from a stylist and my hair kept breaking off. I finally took the plunge and have been relaxing my hair for almost a year now. It's been a very long time since my hair has been this long, thick, and healthy. Sistaslick (I think?) has some great self-relaxer tutorials. Take the plunge. And remember, NO ONE will care for or about your hair more than you do!

You got that right! I will be brave in two months and try again

Thanks

Do not shampoo your hair! put about 4 cap fulls of distilled white vinegar in 2 cups of water, double depending on the length of your hair and pour it onto your head and scalp and make sure it gets everywhere. This stops the relaxer instantly and helps restore some of the ph balance of the hair. then rinse with water only, no shampoo unless you have a very gentle shampoo and only do it once. Then apply a deep conditioner for as long as you can but don't let it dry out. then style as usual, avoid any gels or anything containing harsh chems that will dry out your hair. Personally i would avoid heat styling also, just for today to reduce the stress and trauma your hair is suffering.

Good Luck

Sorry, didn't realize that this was from yesterday but in the future, diluted vinegar works a lot better than a neutralizing shampoo.

:sekret: SHHHHHHH- sharing my stylist secrets!! (i'm a hairstylist and i relax my own hair after having the same experiences) :sekret:
