In the past I've worn braids and the stress on my edges has caused breakage. The area is not as full as it use to be.

Does anyone know what regime I have to follow to get the hair to grow back to its original thickness? And what products have the best results??

I damaged my temple areas by pulling my buns too tight. How are you wearing your hair now? You need to handle this area with extra care. You also need to determine if the area is permanently damaged and sorry to say prepare yourself that it may not grow back if it is.

For me it's been very little manipulation and moisture, moisture, moisture and my edges are on the road to recovery. I also used castor oil nightly on my temples.

I agree with little manipulation + moisture. If you can, wear bangs, either hanging down or, if long enough, swooped to the side. The idea is to take pressure off your hair line to give it a chance to thrive. Ladies here have lauded the success of castor oil and some swear by rosemary essential oil mixed w/a carrier oil as growth aides. Good luck!

Sounds like you're suffering from a combo of stress from the braids AND the chemicals from your texturizer eating out your hair...bad combo. I would strongly suggest leaving both (the braids and the texturizer) alone and being natural for a while. As you can tell from your thinning hair, your body can only take so much. Give your hair a break from both. I'd also suggest massaging your temples to stimulate circulation to that area. Drink at least half of your body weight in ounces of water daily and increase your intake of fresh/raw fruits and veggies to get much needed nutrients. If you eat meat, cut back on it or cut it out altogether. The hormones from meat and meat products also have an effect, be it positive or negative, on hair growth/health.

My hair used to be thin as well. When I gave up the chemicals and went natural, I haven't had that problem since and my thin areas have filled in almost completely after one year.

I wish you the best.

I had the best results with massaging Carolyn Gray's HHIB into my hairline every night. I also had success with Profectiv and black castor oil. But they didn't work as fast as the HHIB.

My cousin wears her hair in cornrows all the time and she likes mixing Profectiv and black castor oil together and applying it to her edges.
