for the Feb Show in Atlanta. The lady gave me the receipt and told me to make sure I take my license to show at the door. I called Bronner Bros and they said it was NOT open to the public. I will be LIVID if I fly all the way to GA and they turn me away at the door. ahs anyone been and do you know of any resolutions?
I don't want to have thrown away money!!! I already got my plane ticket!!!
 
When they said take your "license" do you think they meant cosmetologist license?? It has been a while since I went and I can't even remember the details of how I got in...just bumping for you
 
umm, I don't get why they would sell it to you if you weren't a professional. I know if you bought a ticket through Delta you can cancel your flight w/o charge in a 24 hour window.

I'm an ER RN and an Family Nurse Practitioner. Those are the only licenses I have!:ohwell: I went to Sally's and kept the kid behind the counter laughing so hard that she never even asked me. But she handed me a little flyer for the one that's going to be in Long Beach and it said in BOLD that they will be checking ID at the door. Plus the lady on the phone from Bronner said that they weren't open to the public. Just wondering if anyone has already gone to one of these before: what's the prortocol? WIll I be able to buy goodies? That's what I REALLY want to do!
 
All of those fools we see in the "Say Something Nice" threads could not be licensed professionals...

Can you still get a refund??
 
I don't know, every show is different. I'm going to the one in March at Jacob Javits Center in NY the IBS show....I have had friends of mine to go in the past to this show and be able to buy but they are not licensed cosmetologists, girl, they literally go with shopping carts(don't laugh:lachen:),but now they are strict, you can buy a general ticket but it does not give you access to the "goodies"(this defeats the whole purpose), the only reason I was able to get an all access ticket is because my husband is a Licensed Barber and on the weekends I work at his shop.
I hope somebody knows the answer for you, I can image that you are frustrated beyond belief over this....I know that DONTSPEAKDEFEAT on this website is a Licensed Cosmetologist and has probably been to the show before and knows details, try asking her for some advice.

I went to the last one in august and I didn't have a problem. I am interested in the ibs show in NYC in march
 
You should be fine. The only professional license I have is through the State Bar of Georgia and I go to the shows. I think they asked for my Driver's license when I picked up my wristband.

I've never had a problem purchasing. Most of the people that attend are consumers anyway. I don't know why you were told that it was not open to the public. (are you sure that wasn't a certain seminar, class etc.?) I've never once had anyone to ask for a license to purchase products.

They have so many great deals. The best day to purchase is the last day. There are deals everywhere and they don't care if you are a beautician. They just want you to buy, buy, buy.

Okay. Now that this has been settled, I'm going to makesure i get my VIP ticket on Monday. I'll also be making flight arrangements from Chicago.
 
IBS, stands for the International Beauty Show. They have everything from Moroccanoil to Sally's to Salerm, you name it and it's there the JJ IBS show is huge!!!! LOL:grin:

That's what I thought. Why would you exclude a major portion of your economy. But when I called the Bronner Bros Headquaters, she told me that the expo was not open to the general public, and that I should try to find a professional "friend" to escort me.
Little do they know, I my shopping habits can do nothing but benefit them!

Is it possible that they require your Driver's License when you show up since they didn't issue you an actual ticket? I haven't been to the bronners brother show but I did have this be the case for another show where I had purchased the tickets online...it was basically just to confirm my identity and that I was over 18. If I were you I would try calling again and asking specifically if the show is open to the public and what the entry requirements are.
 
I think you only need a license if you wanted to take classes like hands on cutting classes, weave classes, etc. Stylist need hrs to work toward renewing their license every 2 years and they need your license number to get credit. That's all they need it for. It shouldn't effect you if all you're going to do is shop.

I used to go to the shows all the time before I had a license especially on the last day which is usually student day. The best deal day. Man I wish I could go.:sad:
