Finally, after 9 grueling months of lurking, I am joining. Unfortunately, it is not in the happiest of circumstances. I have been stretching my relaxer since October, so today I got excited and self-relaxed. I've never had problems in the past so I thought it would be all good. So it starts burning severely for the first time ever after about 5 minutes, and I proceed to rinse it out. And I hear "Psh". It was like my faucet was mocking me. There was a water main break. NO RUNNING WATER!!! So I open every single bottled water in my apartment and frantically rinse as much out as I could. I followed with 1 neutralization shampoo (I only had enough water for that) and slather on Silicon Mix. I call the water company and my roomate telling her to bring back gallons of water, and as soon as she pulls up, I hear the toilet running. The water has come back on. I think this is God telling me to go natural. And to finally pay the $5 and join you guys cause if I have any hair left after this I want to take better care of it than I have in the past.
Sorry so long....

Wow, that's a sc-hairy story alright, I hope you're OK. But have you thought about becoming nautral before this? You really have to weigh the + and - before you do. Do you like stick straight, texturized waves, or curls most of the time. And whatever you do next time you relax fillup a couple of gallons of water 1st just in case. hth
