Has anyone ever warmed up their conditioner in the microwave, etc., and applied it to their hair? I dont have a hooded dryer here at school and I dont feel like i'm getting a deep condition when I just slap a cap on...

Re: heating conditioners (Peachtree ?)

I warm my conditioners up (since I read Peachtree did this).

I put some conditioner in a small bowl, and place the bowl in a small pot of boiling water.

Peachtree - How do you warm your conditioners?

I remember seeing some lotion warmers in the store a long while ago. Hmmm.

gvsugirl,

If you don't have a hood dryer at school, try putting your hair in a plastic bag and wrapping your head with a warm towel. I read somewhere that this works, if you don't have a hood dryer.

Do you get out of the shower and do this before conditioning? I guess the running back and forth would drive me crazy but I would like to try this.

I have 2 ways....

1) Stove Top...
I'll bring water to a boil, then insert a collinder. Then I'll pour my conditioner into a microwaveable bowl (like a small tupperware dish), then lay the bowl ontop of the collinder. The steam from the boiling water is enough to warm the conditioner

(basically the same way that I steam my rollers if u remember seeing my homemade steamer in my album)

2) Lazy Method....
I'll warm it in the microwave. (inside of the microwaveable bowl)

Hairlove, sometimes I will hop out of the shower to warm the conditioner. But most of the time, I'll take the bowl (with the warmed conditioner) to the shower with me. It's still warm when I apply it

I've used this method for 6 mths now... No need for my hooded dryer!

I have a hood dryer, but sometimes I don't have time to just sit there for 30 or more minutes. I take a towel, warm it in the dryer wrap it around my head, while another towel is warming. I exchange towels a few times, until enough time passes and I rinse the conditioner out.

I'm so excited to try this! Diamondlady, I tried the towel thing, but it was really uncomfortable when I wanted to do things around the house (my head felt so heavy!) and the towel kept coming unwrapped! Maybe I didnt do it right?

I put my preshampoo conditioner treatment (when I do this) in the microwavefor about 10 seconds. Also, I put my CH conditioner in the microwave if the coconut oil gets a little hard.

I used my heat pad (kind of home-made) right now but I may try heating up my conditioner next time. I don't have a dryer.

Girllllll ...
I tried this heating conditioner thing last night and it was wonderful

I used my CON Nourishing Conditioner mixed with at few tablespoons of olive oil and a little V05 Strawberries (to offset the medicinal smell of the CON). I nuked it for 30 seconds and applied very generously to my wet hair. I left it on for about 2 hours.

Anyway, when I rinsed, my hair was extremely soft and slippery

This is definitely a keeper for my regimen.

Peachtree and all, thanks for this tip!!! It's one of the best I've gotten from this board
