TRANSITION OVER! 11-22-14
I was so happy I could flat twist my hair, but Now I'm getting really bad headaches. Is this normal? I think I'm going to have to back off flat twists for awhile or at least until my hair grows some more. I'm 2 months post- maybe the pressure on my scalp is too much.:ohwell: Can anyone give me some advice?

You're probably flat-twisting really tightly to get them to stay. Since I cannot flat-twist, I can't give you advice on how to improve your technique, but if you can do single twists, maybe you could do them in rows parted the way you would for flat-twisting and then twist them around each other lightly enough not to give you a headache but firmly enough to stay. My current do is kinda along those lines, only no straight parting involved here. :lachen: It is my new protective styling and is loose enough for me to forget I have my hair styled at all.

I am doing them tightly because they won't look good if I don't. Nonie, can you please tell me how to do the other style? Thanks again for your help.:yep: I will figure out how to do painless twists soon I hope. I love how that style looks on me.

OK, you know how you part a straight line to do flat twists? Well part the same way, then divide that row into narrow twists. The more two-strand twists you can make per row, the better. Then do the twisting motion Iv'e done with my do above. I had tried to do that style but I can't find the photo. Let me look some more. BRB

Here's the photo of the idea I had in mind. I think if the twists were smaller, they might have looked neater. So I have two-strand twists in rows and then I just twist them around each other to form a continuous flat twist. You don't have to pull tight for it to hold. Just turn it enough times for the twists to be held in place.

ETA: I've added a phony puff to the back.

Nonie, can you post a pic of the row of 2 strand twists? Maybe I should wait for longer hair to flat twist.:ohwell: Thanks for the help, sis!:yep:
