I saw it in the store and I only passed it up because it reminded me of frying foods. It was yellow with a thick consistancy. I went unto another blog and the ladies said the same exact thing but they finally tried it and they say its better than olive =/ Doubt it because my hair doesnt like anything but water and olive oil for sure. lol

I think I may stick with my baby olive oil for life. *pooches lips*

my hair doesnt like
tea tree
peppermint
coconut

tea and pepperment dries it out and coconut doesnt do anything

My hair likes olive oil, hemp seed oil, rice bran oil. Coconut dries my hair out when used alone.

Sent from my LS670 using LS670

Sunflower oil is my primary oil. My hair is fine and gets weighted down easily by oil. THis is one of the few my hair actually absorbs and doesn't feel greasy. This is a light oil, much lighter than most. It's even lighter than jojoba.

I agree. I love sunflower oil. Its very light, absorbs easily and does not leave a greasy residue. I've used it as a pre-poo and it aided with detangling. I also used it as a styler. I bought mine from TJ Maxx for $5.99.

My hair likes grapeseed, coconut, emu, safflower, rice bran, walnut, olive and jojoba oils - basically every oil I've ever tried, lol.

I'll pick up sunflower oil the next time I need a PJ fix. What's it supposed to do, OP? Is it a ceramide oil?

sunflower oil is amazing! My hair loves it so much :yep:

I used to use coconut oil and it worked great for my hair and then my hair started hating it. And then I used to use Avocado oil and then my hair started hating it. :(

Olive oil does nothing for me, weighty and doesn't absorb. Jojoba and Safflower are fine but i haven't bought any.

I bought sunflower oil from dollar tree. I figured it's only a dollar let me check it out. good descion on my part.

I love sunflower oil! I also use jojoba, olive, and hemp seed.

I can use coconut oil, but only Vatika Oil and Cocoveda Hair Oil. Regular coconut oil dries my hair out.

I'm going to try walnut oil this week...

I love oils and am constantly researching to see if a particular oils properties will agree with my hair. My forever oils are: EVOO, coconuit, jojoba & grapeseed. Currently on rotation: Sweet Almond, Rice Bran & Grapeseed. I haven't tried sunflower yet but have used Safflower..it was OK and didn't give me results that would make me repurchase. I ended up using most of it for cooking or cleaning my teeth...

I can only use olive oil. Wheat germ oil's not bad on the hair, but I can't just STAND the smell of it. Can't do it. Coconut leaves me dry, and jojoba breaks me out. I still need to try castor though.

Really? hmm, have to check this out. Thanks brg240

faithVA no problem :) I'm so happy it worked for me. I also bought a soybean/olive oil(94/6) mix by the same brand and it did zero for my hair but it works perfectly with my skin.

the brand is Pampa btw, if you don't see it at the dollar store they do sell the brand at other stores. I think i've seen it in kmart.

oh i forgot castor oil didn't work well for my hair either

I just picked some Sunflower oil today.
Initially I was using because I ran out of olive and found that I like the less greasy feel so stuck with it. After looking at the ceramides challenge to see it listed was a bonus.

A little goes a long way and it doesn't have a scent (to me at least).

I consume wheat germ oil in my egg shakes and still love olive oil.
I have just picked up neem oil although that stuff stinks!!
They advise to use it as pre-poo or on skin but really.....there's no way I could use that as a body lotion. It's just too nasty.

I love sunflower oil. I use it when I flat iron and it makes my hair feel so soft. Coconut is still my favorite but I use olive and a mix of a whole bunch of oils that I put in a big empty olive oil bottle. I use this in my hair and on my body as a moisturizer.

Tea tree oil is good for the scalp but the pure form is way too expensive for hair use. Maybe the one you have was mixed with other oils that didn't agree with you.

Peppermint would have to be an essential oil that shouldn't be put on the hair or body without it being seriously diluted - like a few drops per bottle of oil. Again, maybe you had a mix with other oils that didn't agree.

Y'all so wrong!
Maaan, now I have to go buy some sunflower oil!!
My hair JUST fell in love with safflower oil.

It's also been good with grapeseed oil and EVOO.

Coconut oil is NOT my hair's friend.
And I only use peppermint oil in scalp mixes. I learned early in the game not to let tea tree oil touch my hair. I think it's because TTO and PO are EO's. But my hair can tolerate Lavender oil in a mix...

Soon, I'll be off to the Dollar Store to pick up some sunflower oil.

My hair pretty much loves hemp seed, soybean, safflower, grapeseed, almond, olive, carrot oil. When I was relaxed, my hair LOVED coconut oil applied directly and it had such softness and shine after. But since being natural, coconut oil just makes my hair stiff and stringy if I apply it directly on damp or dry hair. It's fine to do an oil rinse with, but not to apply as a daily oil. Castor oil is a bit too heavy for the bulk of my hair so I just use that on my ends.

My hair also loves all of the EO's and Ayurvedic oils I've tried like rosemary, eucalyptus, lavender, peppermint, tea tree, cedarwood, sandalwood, Brahmi oil, Mahabringraj, Vatika (makes hair stringy so I must use as a HOT or oil rinse), Amla oil, Shikakai oil. I have quite a collection and have to use some up before I replenish but the EOs get replenished most often since I apply them in my herbal oil mix to my scalp several times a week.

I will be getting some sunflower oil and butters for the winter. My hair pretty much loves any type of butter or creme I put into it.
