Have you dyed your hair jet/blue black before?

1. Can you post before and after pics? Even if your hair was already black but you wanted to go blacker.
2. What dye did you use?
3. Did anyone do it because they wanted to make their hair look healthier?
4. Has anyone gone black over henna? (I don't want to hear about indigo but I wouldn't mind seeing the pics)

Pics below

2. What dye did you use?
Garnier Fructis.

3. Did anyone do it because they wanted to make their hair look healthier?
No. I was tired of the reddish brown on top.

4. Has anyone gone black over henna? (I don't want to hear about indigo but I wouldn't mind seeing the pics)
I have never hennaed.

Here are the pics. They are from the end of 2011 and the beginning of 2012:

My hair wasn't nearly as black as I wanted it to be. I was disappointed. It was suggested to me that if I want to go black again to use Bigen Blue Black.

I don't have photos.
Feria had a special line for Brunettes. couldn't get the blue black they ran out..
it made my hair very shiny....

feria is the best,
ya notice how expensive it is?

2 good jet blacks are garnier herbashine soft black (its really really black despite the name, it's demi-perm though) & clairol textures and tones silken black...

I did a jet black semi perm color over my 1b/2 hair and it took really well - but it definitely made my hair dry... I've had to moisturize and seal daily to combat - haven't figured out if shedding has increased also

Try these:

Redken Shades EQ in Onyx (demi permanent that will condition and provide rich, shiny color)
Creme of Nature permanent color
Natural Instincts
Alter Ego EgoColor (it says semi permanent, but it's actually demi permanent)

I've never done BLACK (because there's no going back without bleach) but I've done dark browns/deep warm browns and those covered my previous color without a problem; they also left my hair feeling good without any breakage issues afterwards.

i used feria blue black and it was beautiful and so shiny. I rocked it for a year and am thinking about going back to blue black for the fall/winter.

So many times! :yep:

My hair likes to play this dance between henna and black dye. I henna, then don't really like the color, so then I dye black again. I've not made that leap to indigo, but am thinking of it. So yes, I've gone black over henna.

The only colors I recall ever using are:
Revlon ColorSilk Blue-Black

I usually dye it just because I want a change or because I feel black flatters me more than other colors.

I use and love Feria, it does not turn my grey hair purple like some other dyes.

Before my hair was a medium/dark brown. After Jet Black I prefer my hair really dark.

Wow, Beautiful pictures. I can't wait now.
Did anyone have to buy two boxes of dye to get good coverage?

I think this depends on the length and density of your hair. The last time I went black I was just below CBL. My hair is low to medium density. I barely managed to get away with just one box. I now need two boxes or tubes (if I buy direct from the BSS) for full coverage.

If you get Bigen, you will definitely need two boxes.

Your hair doesn't look low density at all.

Great thread - i've been wearing my hair out (without extensions for a change) this week and im really not impressed by the dusty off black colour and was considering dying it, but my fear is it would damage the health of my hair

I picked up Dark and Lovely's Jet Black dye today. I'm going to do this in the week or next weekend. I thought patch tests were only 24 hours so was hoping to do it tomorrow.

i love blue black and i would love to try a dark purple! i dyed my hair blue black some months ago, but the color didn't last. i am going to have a professional do it for the holiday season.

My hair looks dusty too. :lachen: Doesn't matter if I put oil in it.

Well right now my hair is a mix of some off-black (my natural colour), henna and a random red streak and I'm assuming dyeing it a jet black with give it a deeper colour taking away the appearance of it looking dusty. It could be the texture as well because but I'll soon find out.

Just came to share my jet black dye results.
I used the one from "Dark and Lovely"

I dyed my hair jet black a few years ago. My hair is naturally a dark brown that bleaches lighter in summer. My mom said I looked like Elvira, and I didn't think it looked that good on me because it muted my features. I never did it again.:nono: it was some drugstore brand, I remember the box but not the name.
